Lincoln Mark LT Handles Installed!!!
Lincoln Mark LT Handles Installed!!!
Well my LT handles came into...so of course I had to slip away from work and go get them and put them. It wasnt a bad install at all....it took about 2 hours to do all 4 (one hour went to do the first one and figure out just what to do). I know someone said they 04s might be different than the 05s...well the only two differences I found were that the door lock lock ring (that holds the door lock in the handle) was about 1/64th of an inch off in the new handle (a quick buzz with the dremal and it was fixed) and the new handle only had a place for one bolt on the inside of the door (pics below) were as the 04 handles had two. I will post a short walk through for you guys but first here are some before and afters:

The first thing you have to do is take the door panel off...how to do this has been posted before so I wont go over that here. Next thing you need to is take and pull back the plastic in the corner of the door by the handle. You can then gain access to the two 10mm bolt that hold the handle on inside the door.
You can then gain access to the two 10mm nuts that hold the handle on inside the door. Take those two nuts off (only one is pictured below...the other is directly over the top of this one).

After that pull the two rubber plugs out of the holes on the edge of the door. I found the best way to do this is push the edge of the plug in to the hole and then pull it out.
Then take the 2 10mm bolts out. BTW...only the top bolt is used on the new handles.

Next thing you do is pull the handle out starting with the side farthest from the door edge.
At this point I recommend putting duck tape on the door around the handle just too be safe. Those studs on the back side can very easily scratch your door when your fighting with it getting it out!!!
At this point you will twist the handle assembly off the little rod that its connected to. I didnt get any pics of this step but its very self explanitory once you get to this point. After that you twist your new handle on and put everything back to gether...do it 3 more times and your finished.

No problem...these were one of the best "bang for the buck" apperence mods I have done! They look great in person!
List on the handles is $60 each and the tailgate is like $48. I got mine for $225 for all 5 pieces. Your dealer should be able to meet or beat that price.
