I just received my handle today and it is just the shell without the chrome button.

So was this the tan handle right? How much did you pay, if it was tan? I found a pic of the tan handle and it looks like a perfect match for the 05 tan leather. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...rd=1#mainImage I'm going to try and order one later in the week.

I just got the call that mine was in. I have the tan interior, but ordered the black handle since the existing handle is grey, and Quintin said the Mark LT's color is "Pebble", and not tan. The dirt and grime factor was a consideration, too.

Anyway, it was $10, and took a week to get.

Hotlap, I got it from Ladin Lincoln Mercury.

We'll see what the weekend brings for a possible installation attempt.

Can you take some pictures during your installation? I'm still a little foggy on how to install it, and how the black will look with the tan interior. I'm 90% confident the tan will match the 05. The dirt and grime on the tan leather shifter is also something that I'm a little worried about.

Ok, pebble refers to the color of the seats...they are a very light tan. The shifter is a tan leather that matches the dash, which is the same dash that is in the tan F150 interior. My one worry is the long term durability of this tan leather as a shifter...course probably the same abuse the steering wheel will get.

I thought about the steering wheel issue as well, but there isn't a darn thing I can do about that. Oh well.

My attempt will be this weekend, most likely, if I can squeeze it in between "Honey-Do's". I will absolutely take pictures.

Picked up the handle at lunch. First photos:

That mechanism inside the oval hole doesn't move. I guess that is where the Mark LT's button hinges. Is that the part that gets cut out? Better do some reading before I start hacking...

looks sweet. How does it feel? I know that it's hollow, but do you think it will feel a lot sturdier and a bit manly. Instead of the cheap, light-weight stock plastic one.

I can't want for me to get it.
Need to get the Leather console lid to match. Some of you lariat owners need to put them up on ebay. haha

The leather is textured, like the steering wheel, but so far all I can say is it feels better than the plastic one.

You know - just looking at that part in the above pics.....wouldn't it just be easier to slide the leather cover off and glue it to the stock plastic shifter handle? It looks as if it "tucks" under the plastic chrome "lid" and the other end as well?

Hmm...good idea, I'd venture to say it's on there pretty tight though and any attempt to remove it would make it too loose on the next shifter it went on.

DAThomas9,

Good luck on the install! I along with others will be watching for it and cheering you on. Good luck with the Honey-Dos; I know I wanted to sand and paint the mud flaps this weekend but someone who will remain unnamed, ordered a dump truck full of mulch dumped in the middle of the driveway...and it needs shoveling...guess that shoveler is me this weekend....dang it.

SNIP------
.

I wonder though if you heated it up with an air dryer or in the oven - if it wouldn't loosen the glue? I'm going to have to try it I think and will let you know!

Purpony,

How do you remove the chrome button. I have the shifter off and cannot get the button off. Is there a pin or something that must be removed to pull it off?
