Why in the heck would you quote my post and then type that? Do you understand what I did? Do you understand my role in this? Do you understand how message boards work? Do you even vaguely understand capitalization on the first letter of a sentence?
GENTLEMEN:

First and foremost, I AM NOT SELLING THIS PRODUCT!!!

Some of you have this notion that I'm the guy pushing this product for my own personal benefit. I AM NOT.

I simply posted a review about a product that I was lucky enough to be able to help with R&D on... nothing more, nothing less.

If you want to buy one, jump on it. I think it's a helluva product... if you don't, I honestly don't care. It's that simple.

Rather than ripping on someone that gave an honest review of a great product maybe you should find something else to do with your truck other than an intake... maybe a set of LED tails or a new set of shocks. Geesh...

So I guess that's a no on the dyno Rock?!

There sure are a lot of whinners on the forum lately. "Oh that looks bad" and "Oh what a waste of money, you should have done this".... it's like forum wide PMS!

Man... tell me about it. It's getting a bit out of control.

This forum has operated EXTREMELY well since its conception and has been far from a crybaby forum... I see a sway in the way things are going here lately and, frankly, it alarms me. While we have a very solid member base with great insight, personality, and overall knowledge, I see the necessity for more moderation soon.

I agree 100%, the only reason why i came to these forums in the first place was because of the awesome information available for our trucks. I have learned alot and hopefully helped out alot with mods that i have done and given advice to people who were seeking it. I know you will never be able to satisfy everyone all the time, but people here have really started getting personal. When i first signed up it was only a couple of members who had a bad rap for flaming or aggrivating other members, but as you said lately its getting much worse. I have also noticed some members who had usefull information when i started are no longer posting here.
The forum motto should be if you dont have anything nice to say then dont say it....unless a post specifically asks for opinions.

Finally like i have said before our trucks look great no matter what we do to them. I like the raised trucks, lowered trucks, plain trucks, and modded to the gills trucks. Heck I still cant figure out what rubber i want to put on my new rims, or if i should lift the front 2" or drop the rear 2".

Hopefully people here will realize that they dont have todo every mod they see here, and if they dont like it fine. Just dont expect everyone else to mod their trucks the way you want to mod your own.
Later Trev

P.S. It is alot cheaper to come here and research a mod than to run all over hell and back searchin for stuff & install info.

Well seeing as i posted in this forum i should at least stay on topic.
From what i could see from the pics posted it doesnt look like the intake around the filter is more or less sealed to the truck like the air raid setup is. As i have a functioning ram air hood would i lose out on any gains i would have with my current airraid intake. Has anyone tried the AF1 with a ram air hood ?
Thanks Trev

Rockpick, I apologize; I wasn't trying to whine or single you out--just use your post as an example. I picked your post because people keep asking about the subjective "butt dyno." You did the R&D, and you have a truck set up as most would have it. Thus, I was suggesting that you dyno your truck to prove the gains to the rest of us. I also know that you are not selling the product, you just helped test it.

People keep quoting the "butt dyno." The problem with products like these and other is that the gains they post are often no where near what a person realizes in real life. Thus, until someone provides objective data, it is hard to buy a product like this.

I am sure it is a fine product, and that the gains are real. But why would someone sell it without an objective eval...? i.e. stock dyno, dyno with intake, and dyno with intake and tuner?

and if you want to talk grammar, remember it IS the internet. So far I have yet to see a standard regarding the finer points of message board capitlization...if you let people slander and misinform on these boards I am sure a capitilzation can be overlooked.

Accepted. No biggie. It certainly sounded and seemed like you were calling me out individually.

This is precisely why I fired back such a harsh response. I felt that yours was, indeed, a direct slander towards me. I fired back with the same fire that I felt that I was under. Nothing more, nothing less. While that's not necessarily the correct thing to do, I was in a poor mood when it was read and this just fanned the flames. I, too, appologize for that.

While I understand your concern, I'm not going to be running out, stripping my truck of all my mods, dyno'ing it, replacing all my mods, and re-dynoing it. It's not my problem.... I know the gains that I've experienced and, while I can't put a number on them, they're real. Further, I know you don't necessarily doubt that and I understand that you'd like to see numbers but, I'm not the guy you need to come to for that information.

A quick phone call to Troyer Performance can help you out FAR MORE than I can. I'm just a guy who wrote a little ditty about a product that I found to be beneficial to me, on my truck, under my driving conditions.

I have issues with people that expect other people to go out spend money to dyno a product that they are not selling, and will not make a dime on. Why should RP and Marc, who are giving a PERSONAL BUTT DYNO (to help the group gain information), be expected to do anything else other than give there honest opinion to the people on this board.

AND NOTHING MORE!!!

Why does it always have to be "go out and spend YOUR money to prove it to me"? Some people seem to not be able to take anything for face value anymore. It was free information, if you do not like it, walk away.

Come on guys this is a great board with awesome information on great trucks.

You do have options:
1. Go buy it yourself and get it dyno'd with your own money, and if it doesn't meet your expectations, return it for a full refund

2. Buy another product

I am sure there are more options but I don't care what they are because I just bought one last week due to the information in this post and information from Mike Troyer.

All I have to say is a big THANKS to Rockpick and Marc for giving me the information in this post that I need to make my purchasing decision.

RP,

GREAT writeup. Thanks for taking the time.

I'd be really interested in your mileage after this most recent mod. It will most likely be the determining factor whether I can get such a purchase past the CFO.

Hopefully you mileage continues to improve.

Thanks again.

DT

All,
I sent an e-mail to Mike Troyer about including the AF1 into their Stage 1 package and asked him for a price. Given the number of people that are buying new trucks and may want a mod package, this may be a best bet.

I'll let you know what he says.

Paul
