Finally Got The Exhaust!

Well after I spent all day ysetrday calling every muffler shop even near my area I finally just went to meineke after school today. I orginally was looking into magnaflow since alot of people talked about how great they were and how insanely loud the flowmasters were I ended up getting one anyways. I thought i was going to get a tip but i ended up just getting the muffler swap and right now im not regretting it. The total came out to be $121.36 . As for being to loud, I think its just right. Could it be because i kept the stock pipes? I virtually dont hear it at in the cab when its idling and theres no "drone" that i know of. Anyways, so far Im really happy with this purchase and await the power window kit that will be in on friday!

If I could change one thing about my flowmaster 40 series single in dual out, it would be that I could make it LOUDER.

I thought it was going to be incredibly loud according to some post on this forum, which i was afraid of because of my parents. But it turned out perfect IMO. In the cab with the windows up I can just slightly hear a lower tone (not really louder than stock). Yet, outside it sounds deep and mellow and not overbearingly loud. When I step on it, it will roar outside yet inside its really just mellow and powerful sounding for my little 4.6. I have no regrets at all especially for what I paid, about 50 bucks lower than all the other estimates i got in my area (well except i might regret not getting the tip install yet but like i said first thing first).

I like the idea of just swapping out the muffler. These trucks have 2 ½” pipes to start with which is plenty big enough. So just changing the muffler is an economical way of getting a better exhaust sound and a couple of ponies to boot. Slap a nice tip on and you’re all set.

Merek,

How does your Gibson sound? I ended up going with a Magnaflow muffler going to Gibson Super Truck Tips. Just curious as to how you might describe the Gibson sound.

Super Truck Tips rule. I got lucky enough that I found a seller on Ebay that bought the tips and then found out that they wouldn't fit on his screw. I was able to get the set for $70. But they are worth the $47 / each. Good quality tips and you don't see them on any other F150's. Besides mine, but I'm all the way in KS so you won't have to worry about me spoiling your uniqueness.
