Question Is the end worth the means?

Hey guys.

I have seen lots of posts here saying how some added something here and something there... trying to get that little bit of extra power... Does adding things like an air intake "upgrade" and a different exhaust really bring about improvements.

I am wondering since this is my first truck and I am DROOLING at some of your trucks and what you have done to them.

But is the money you spend on the mods actually realized ???

If so.... out of all the things out there, what can I really tell my wife "baby I NEED this!"

Thanks.

You NEED the Xcalibrator; it’s the “biggest bang for the buck” mod there is, no exceptions.

I'll agree with my Florida brother JP. The tuner is the best bang for the buck and the XCalibrator seems to be the best tuner available at this point.
Intakes and exhaust will give you lots of noise to make you think you're getting more power, but the tuner will give you more power and better shifting.

Most of the 91 lookers are just thinking you're another newbie asking the "what's the best mod" question again.

You have asked a subjective question.

I suggest you look at the chip forum and start doing searches. Mike Troyer at www.troyerperformance.com sells "stage" kits. He is the most renowned person I have seen on this Message Board for getting you the best "bang for your buck" performance mods.

I also suggest if you want to walk on the wild side look at the superchargers forum. I would love to put the Whipple on my truck when its released. For me however, I can't handle the cost or loss of warranty coverage. But I sure would love to bump my F150 to 475HP.

So if you are asking are perfromance mods worth it it depends what you mean. If you are trying to gain gas mileage you are waisting your time. You may get some MPG gains but thats not what performance mods are for. They are a by product of "tuning" your vehicle. If you want to get rid of the throttle lag in these trucks, Mike is the guy to talk to.

I personally am going to purchase Mikes Stage 2 kit less the Magnaflow, as I already have the Magnaflow. I know that I will be able to lay tire from a dead stop and my truck will have the best bang for the buck I could purchase anywhere. (including the abilty to go way too fast, although not my intention, just nice to know its there)

So is it worth it. Hell yes.....

One of Mike's posts stated that he sells superchargers for the 5.4 3V f150. He also said that it comes with a warranty that will cover anything that would be voided form Ford's due to the supercharger...Kevin

For example - when we sell a supercharger for these newer 5.4 3V F-150's, the supercharger kits we provide are also backed by a REPLACEMENT POWERTRAIN WARRANTY for 3 years or 36K miles - thus replacing the part of your original 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty that could potentially be voided by using a supercharger.
That came from the post I was referring to...Kevin

I read that aftyer I posted. It will void my 5 year warranty, but they have to prove it. I have only done the Magnaflow mod thus far since I was having vibration issues. Trust me I will be talking to Mike about that post as it is very interesting!!!
