Thumbs down GRRR More warranty work

Just an FYI...

Seems I've been geting CEL and engine studdering coming on with my 1714 tuner. Reloaded stock program, CEL and studder continues. Took it in to the dealer and they say there were no codes. Called Mike Troyer who was great help. He took time to talk with me for about an hour. Mike suspects a throttle body problem, and says they have been seeing alot (maybe 6) throttle body issues in the last couple of months. Late model 2004 and early 2005 5.4L are the effected trucks. I finally got it to throw hard codes, so back to the dealer tomarrow. I'll keep everyone posted as things progress.

Case solved. 1714sct does not throw codes when switched back to stock. Hope you get your truck fixed.

Yeah, that's why I returned to stock: 1 so the dealer wouldn't try to void warranty, 2 to see if the tuner had anything to do with it. Just posted to let others know that there may be issues with the throttle body on certian build dates.

Yeah I'm glad you posted the thread. There's been alot of discussion on whether dealers can tell if you installed a 1714 chip. From your situation they can't. Thats great. Again good luck with your truck

P0603 may be set, I've seen that a few times with some diesel programmers indicating a loss of KAM to the PCM. Some programmers set weird codes that are dead giveaways. It's more common amongst the diesel crowd, but it could happen to other vehicles too.

Can't you clear the codes with the 1714 tuner? I can read and clear codes with my Predator whether the performance tune is installed or not. Even the pesky p1000 (not enough info/ learning cycle) code that will show up every time you install or remove a custom tune.

P1000 will always be set, since some monitors don't complete at idle, like the catalyst and O2 monitors.

I sure can reset the codes with the 1714, but that's not the point. Point is, I want my throttle body replaced (under warranty) so my truck runs right and quits throwing codes/stumbling.

I needed the stock tune installed with the codes for the CEL stored, for Ford to start looking at things. I already took the truck in (thinking there were codes stored) and they just gave it back saying "no codes=no fix"

Oh, BTW when I did take the truck in last week the service tech was scratching his head that there were no p1000 code. Upon talking with Mike Troyer the P1000 code should clear in the first few drive cycles (which aparently mine did in about 200 miles of highway drive).

Codes are P2106 and P2135

There is a post floating around here about stalling and the fix seems to be throtle body in most cases. Just makes me think there are some issues out there with our throtle bodies as Mike has said he is seeing a developing trend.
