To mudguard, or not to mudguard, that is the queston

So I'm hemmin-n-hawin about adding mud guards to my truck. I hate the fact that my truck is dirty about 9 seconds after I wash it because I drove thru water that was thrown from the tires, but I'm not sure I'm sold on the appearance of the vehicle with them.

So what do you think? I know some of you have them, maybe you could show me some pics or your gallery with mud guards on your truck to help decide.

Thanks in advance.

I bought the ford ones for my truck and they arrived this week. I went and held it up on the truck.... it fit nicely, but I just about puked at the appearance. They are too long in my opinion. I know the longer they are, the better they protect from stuff flying up, but they take away from the great looks of the truck.

If you decide to get some, email me! I have a BRAND NEW set of 4. Never installed. All hardware still sealed up.

On my next truck I will not put them on. They do not seem to really do a whole lot to keep the %$# off the truck. They are the ford mudguards, they look good but just not worth spending $$ on. Just my 2 cents.

I am in the same boat; I keep going back and forth on whether to put mudflaps on the new Screw.

I have looked at everything from the factory molded ones, to the Husky ones, to the good old cheap rubber ones from Autozone and still cannot decide what I want to do! Oh well, guess I will not do anything for now and like it!

I also hate the fact that the salt and dirt spray up on the truck but that's winter in CT for you.

I just ordered a set of 4 molded splash guards here at work along with the Ford low-pro Bug Guard. When I get them installed I'll post pics.

I have them and they do work, and look good.

I need a new front though. Broke it after going over some ice banks. I say ice instead of snow because they were hard as a rock.

Having one broken in the front, I get alot of snow and ice accumulating in the step bars. Not to mention the ice buildup in the door jam.

Just say no to mudguards! I don't like the look myself and I don't really care that my truck gets mud on it- it's a TRUCK so let it look like I use it as a truck which I do! Right now it has all that rock salt stuff on it but I'll wash it tomorrow then dirty it up the next day. I did have mudguards on my luxury cars though.

I have pics of Ford mud guards in my gallery. Not only do they cut down on crap thrown on the side of the truck but I've heard that without them my Westins would get sandblasted by the front tire.

Well, after washing my parents' vehicles (and my own) for so many years, I vowed I'd get the mud/splash guards upon buying a truck. I saw way too many rock chips, tar spatters, etc. on otherwise great paint jobs. So, I had the dealership install the Ford guards before taking delivery of it a year ago. I don't mind the look. For me, they just blend in now ... I don't even "see" them anymore. Several good pics are in my gallery.

Not a fan of mudguards myself...

I dislike them only slightly less than chrome doorstrip protectors and opera windows.

1 vote for get'em. Best money I ever spent on anything. Period.
When I drive around in cruddy weather, the ONLY clean, dry spot on my truck is on the rocker panels behind the wheel wells...

P.S. I've got huskies...

Understood, but I got this fine looking dark stone metallic paintjob and it sure would be nice to see it once in awhile.

I might void your vote because you have a Nittany Lion on your truck.
