Mobil 1 0w20 and Motorcraft filter. I really think this is mostly a preference thing. My Taurus has had Three different brands of oil, mostly synthetic blend, and with 104,000 miles it will drop a quart in 5000 miles.(same as it did when I got it with 18,000)...Kevin

Try to change your oil every 3000mile especially if when your truck is brand new. The breakin period for new trucks is the hardest when it is new. Your motor will thank you for it down the road. Do you only brush your teeth every other day?

I would also go with the Motorcraft synthetic blend 5w/20 and the 820-S filter. Cost about $14.00 at Wally World.

Do a search please...this topic has been beat to death, brought back a few times, and beat to death again. Let this one die out...

Ya know, instead of telling new people to do searches, how about just not reading the thread if you don't like it?

New people like to TALK on boards that people meet and TALK at. How about letting the phrase " DO A SEARCH" die?

Timply, I like the Mobil 5W-30 and Wix filters myself.

Enjoy that quality time while you change the oil yourself instead of paying the hungover baboons that don't really appreciate your nice ride to do it.

The first time is the best! I love servicing my own truck.

Even my wife enjoys automechanics!

Ok, you got me there. Maybe I should have said that if you seach you will find a wealth of information on oil changes without having to wait for people to respond to this thread. This has been done so many times that some people may not post to this thread.

Personally, I go with the manufacturers recommendations. I don't think you can go wrong there.

Hey, there will always be a certain amount of fluff. So it's this week's version of "What's the best oil for my truck" thread. No different than the "What's the biggest tire I can put on my truck" threads littering the landscape around here.

Sorry guys,

When originally posting the question i didnt intend for it to cause such a fuss... honestly i didnt think that many people cared (or was nosey like me) to ask what oil and filter everybody else used, so i didnt think a search was necessary! but i appreciate all the answers and ill use the search button a lil more often!

thanx guys!

This a pretty good article why to use Synthetic and it has more to do with more than just better lubrication. Additive packages and the % of Synthetic oil in Blends are discussed. 5-10% Synthetic doesn't sound like much of a blend.. This guy resommends 12,000 miles before switching to a pure synthetic and explains why..
