speakers for 04 Scab FX4?

I have read until I can't read anymore. I am keeping the stock stereo. I am thinking about replacing the front door speakers with something that will give a little better sound and clarity and something that I can turn up a little more than stock. Any suggestions? I thought about the Alpine SPS 570A.

I just put in Polk DB570's. They sound awesome.

Whatever you choose, just do it. Get the wiring adaptor from whomever you purchase the speakers, and it will take you about five minutes per door on the front, and a little longer on the back.

Opinions Wanted

I too want to upgrade my door speakers. I have the 6 CD changer HU (not audiophile). My question is...Would it be better to just keep the HU, and upgrade speakers and maybe an amp? (I am leaning towards Alpine) or Should I try to find someone else selling thier audiophile system and replace my existing unit? I have seen several HU's, and also some sub/amps for the audiophile system on e-bay. Which would be more cost effective, and easier for someone who is audio challenged?

Thanks,

MOST (but not all) 5x7's have another set of holes that allow them to be mounted in 6x8 holes. you can buy true 6x8 speakers with larger drivers than 5x7's that will fit our trucks.

I know this has been covered before, but I could not find it in the searches. If I, want to improve the sound in my truck, I can replace the 4 speakers with 5X7 thats cool.

Now, if I want to then further the improvements and I want to add a subwoofer, can I buy a subwoofer (whichever) and an amp and plug into the stock HU (6-cd changer/non-audiophile)???

Any input is appreciated.

when I first got my truck, I installed some Kenwood components for my front doors. They have a decent efficiency rating and sound good with the factory head unit. The rear door speakers are still the factory ones.

more recently, I added a 10-inch MTX sub with a supercrewsound.com box, and a MTX Thunder 250-watt amp. The amp has high level speaker wire inputs so you can still use the factory head unit, so I tapped into the rear speaker wires for that. Now the bass from the sub fills out the music nicely when listening to both the radio and cd's. And if I crank it up, that little 10 can pound pretty hard!

I originally wanted the Audiophile, but my truck did come with it. also my truck was not pre-wired for it either, as I could not find the amp plug under the rear seat. So I went with an aftermarket sub instead. I'm sure this aftermarket sub is better than the audiophile sub.

Many of us have added speakers, amps and subs to our stock HUs. Look in my gallery for one example.
Look in the audio section on this forum. A lot of info in there.

Dupuis, I like your setup. I have three questions...

1. What amp did you use for speakers?
2. Why did you have to raise it ..."Raised to keep air flow from vent."? Is there an A/C vent under there?
3. When installing the components in the front, does for provide the area for the tweeter or is that custom? How do you connect both the speaker and the tweeter together or back to the amp?
