question for those without vibes
question for those without vibes
Hello all. I've been lurking for about a week since I bought my 04 Lariat 4x4 screw. It was a demo driven by the owner of the dealership and It 5400 miles on it when I bought it. I've read in horror about the problems some are having here, but so far my truck drives like a dream. With the exception of the brake dust I don't have any of the common issues. Should I be worried that they may still appear, such as the vibes? Have those of you without the vibes had your tires rotated routinely with no problems? I've been very happily driving Chevy's for the past ten years after I went through all the hassles of a Ford by back of a 94 F250. For those of you having problems now you have my deepest empathy. I know exactly what you're going through and I hope all is resolved quickly to your satisfaction. Anyway, did I make a mistake giving Ford another chance? Am I out of the woods in regards to the vibe and or differential issues? Might they pop up later? Should I be afraid to have my tires rotated? Any comments appreciated.
Still no problems here and yes tires have been rotated its over a year old Don't worry about it
I have yet to talked to anyone in person that has a single problem with the new style trucks its just on the forums you hear the problems

aplomb,
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your F150 purchase.
It can be worrisome reading about some of the problems that others have had, but you shouldn't be too concerned. Your truck is already pretty well broken in and it seems that most who have a serious vibe problem start feeling it pretty early.
Try not to worry about potential problems that you have no control over and enjoy your truck. If you worry about all the negative things that might happen, you won't be able to enjoy your ride. I've had my for over 13 months, and still enjoy every chance to drive it.
Good luck,

aplomb,
First of all, welcome to the forum.
Second of all, from the gazillion posts I have read so far, if your truck is vibe free at 5K, then you are most likely in the clear. I have been told that it starts almost immediately after you drive it off the lot, and always within the first 3K. I have 9K on my 04 and it has been nothing but a dream, but there are some who have not been as fortunate.
I would say you'll be alright at the mileage you're at.
While I am pro-Ford, I drive a GMC Scab of the 2002 ilk for a company truck, and it is apples and oranges. Surely, this is the reason you bought the Ford. Welcome to next level!!!!
Lastly, post some pictures of your ride!
Blessings!

Welcome and Congrats on the new truck aplomb
If your truck is vibe less then don’t worry about it. I got 13,500 miles, rotated twice and absolutely no problems at all.
good pic Big SCrew, I like it

It is not a "common issue." It is in fact an uncommon issue. You have read so much about it because the people that do have it are going to voice their concern. Just because you read about it does not mean it is common. Good luck and I hope you do love your truck.
Thanks for the replies fellas, I feel a lot better. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it has enough miles on it now so any problems it may have would be evident. I can't say anything negative about my Chevy's I drove for the last ten years, they have been terrific, but this Ford drives even nicer yet and the Lariat interior is sweet! To those with unresolved issues I really do feel your pain as I went through it ten years ago. FWIW I found the Texas lemon law to have no teeth. As luck would have it I met an attorney through a friend that had a good amount of experience dealing with the big three manufacturers and had developed a working relationship with thier attorneys. All he had to do is send one letter and have one meeting with them (with the documentation of the problems of course) and viola! Ford bought the truck back and paid most of my attorney's fees. I was only out about $100.00 for the attorney to draw up the initial letter to Ford. Best wishes to you fellas and thanks for the replies. I'll try to get pics up soon.
