anyone install a bed rack for motorcycles?

Has anyone installed a bed rack for hauling their dirt bikes?

I picked up a rack that requires drilling into the front panel of the bed to put some bolts through - which is no big deal - BUT it looks like the bed to cab space is very tight - and not sure how I can get a wrench in there to tighten the nut between the bed and cab.

Has anyone done anything like this? Is there more room if you can go up from the ground?

I sure hope that I dont have to take the bed all of the way off to install this thing.

I have and it works perfectly. Give me a second and I'll put up a picture of it.

Ok here ya go.

The third one shows you how it's done without a wrench. The people I bought mine from welded a tab on the nut so you don't have to worry about it.

Not only does it hold the 3 dirt bikes, but it also doubles up as a good tie down spot for my dog.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

sacramentojoe,

so the nuts came with that wrench/tab welded to them?

and then you just leave those on, but pointed down so that you can not see them?

My rack is very similar - seems like i could well on some flat pieces like that to make it work.

Thanks,

Kirk

Well the tabs go behind the cab so you don't see them no matter what unless you look between the cab and the bed of the truck.

As you can see, I installed it on the top portion because I have only 250's and the tires reach up that high no problem.

Good luck. Hope the pics helped.

Thanks Joe,

This really helps.

I have one 450 and then an 85 for the kid so I may have to mount mine a little lower.

I bought a US Rack - No Drilling!. No effect to the bed whatsoever! Holds 3, 2 or just 1 bike. Installs in 5 mins and is real heavy duty. see: www.usrack.com There's no way I would drill into the bed.
