Unhappy HELP! Need Passenger Mirror-FX4

A rock hit my mirror while I was on the interstate and shattered the plastic housing...I need a new one.

Does anybody know where I can get one used and know about how much it would cost?

I took my truck in to the dealer for the "vibe" on 12/2 and got a rental (04 F150 crew cab). Tonight on the way home I got too close to the side of a dirt road and a tree limb hit the passenger side mirror...yep--shattered it too. And no, I didn't buy the extra insurance because the dealership said my truck would be ready on 12/3, but it wasn't. I should have known better from reading all of the posts.

Now I need 2 passenger side mirrors.

Also, if anyone knows how to replace these or has some instructions, it would be greatly appreciated.

replacing them is easy. Remove door panel per posts on this site, loosen three nuts, and that's about it.
finiding one at a cheap price, may not be so easy...Try Ebay...Think I've seen some there in the past.

I just have to ask....

were you driving THAT fast when you hit the tree? People hit branches all the time with these trucks and do not break the mirror housing.

Or did you just misjudge the width of your truck and hit something much harder to break the mirror housing?

I just cant see how someone could break 2 of these in a short span without some form of drivor error/negligence.

If it's a non-power mirror, I have one!
email me at stockstatus at hotmail dot com

If it's a power mirror, eBay usually has 1 or 2 listed for around $75 or get it at the dealer for around $250.

Beware, the mirror is held in place 4 nuts (the 4th is recessed in the door frame), I wouldn't want you to yank it out with the 4th nut in place.

Yeah, I was going too fast, about 40 MPH on a dirt road in the rain.

Yes you can call that driver error, but oh well.

not pointing fingers, it's just that I can't see Ford making these out of a plastic so easily broken.

When I had my Vue, I got side swiped by an expedition, it bent the mirror all the way forward, smashed the mirror, but the plastic wasn't broken. His mirror was fine. This was at 80mph.

I got $250 from the drunken illegal on the spot, ended up costing me $70 including labour to get it fixed, plus my hassle time.
