im looking into lifting my truck. any recommendations? i KNOW NOTHING about lifts or lifting. if anyone could give me a quick run down of the parts needed and where i could find them. im thinking a 3" lift. nothing to big. also whats a good tire and tire size to go with? i was thinking 285/70/17. thanks!

Im almost positive that the 4x4 and 2x4 kits for the 04 are the same.

well heres another idea on the 3" lift. could i also use a daystar 2.5" kit on the front and have a 5.5" lift up front but then i would be left with a 3" out back how to i level that out?

I also believe that the 4x2 and 4x4 kits will be interchangable. Check with the manufacturer to make sure though. All of the spacer or leveling kits (Daystar, Auto Spring, RevTek, Skyjacker) are interchangable between 4x2 and 4x4's. I know that Fabtech and Pro Comp both advertise 6 inch lift kits for 4x2's. You also have the option of a 3 inch Performance Accessories body lift. If money is an issue, you could go with a body lift and one of the leveling kits. As far as raising the rear, you can add a lift block or add-a-leaf to the rear to get the height you desire.

what would be the difference between a 3" body lift and the 3" Skyjacker lift? cost is a factor here. i have around $1600 to spend on lift, wheels, and tires. ive found some good deals on the wheels on Ebay. im still looking for the tires im thinking some 285/70/17 i should be able to clear right?

The Skyjacker is a suspension lift. Their 3 inch kit consists of a replacement coilover shock and an add-a-leaf for the rear (I think). The body lift lifts the body only. I'm not sure of the price for an 04 body lift (mine was about $115), but it will be a lot less expensive than the 3 inch Skyjacker lift.

performance accessories has a 3" body lift that i could buy instead of the skyjacker lift and with the extra money upgrade to some good shocks? what do you all think although it says the body lift is only for the 5.4? why would that be?

$269 is cheap compared to a full suspension lift (althought that is high for a body lift). I don't know why it wouldn't work with a 4.6. If money is an issue, go with one of the coil spacers and the body lift. THis will make the truck level and give your about 5 1/2 inches of lift up front.

269 for a 3" body lift or 550 for a Skyjacker suspension lift? That's a no brainer. Get the Skyjacker.
