I'm 16, and this was the only F-150 that I could afford to lease. It doesn't have 4 wheel drive, and people actually make fun of me at school because it doesn't have 4 wheel drive, and they call it a glorified car... Without voiding any warranties that come with the lease, how can I mod this truck to be totally sweet, if at all possible? Should I go for the lowered / sport look, since I don't have 4x4?

Well im kinda in the same boat.... kind of meaning Im sixteen and got the sam truck yet I am the spoiled little kid who had my parents buy it for me (well actually I was hoping for a nice used chevy but they made me get this cuz they knew its what i really wanted). But anyways the first day I took it into school everyone was talking about it. Yeah theres guys with 4x4 lariats and FX4s and even a couple hummers in our parking lot yet I was told that "your truck was the talk of the parking lot" and even a good friend of mine with an 2wd xlt who is almost as obssessed with his truck as I am mine talked about how much better mine looked after my tint and leveling kit. Long story short if you still read this since its been so long then Im pretty sure youve just got some jealous friends Triton said and instead of admitting it theyre gonna bash you for it. Youve got a brand new F150! Of course I wish I could be driving a king ranch but as long as Im an F150 id say im at the top! Anyways to answer your question - leveling kit, window tint, and power locks (got all that done to my truck for a grand total of $320)
TritonXLT why call nox stupid? I'm glad you had a good laugh at his expense!
Well nox unfortunatly since you have a lease there isn't alot that you can do that won't violate the terms of the lease. If you plan on buying the truck when the lease expires however then mod away!
For right now you can go with a grill insert, body kits, new hood ( there are some really cool hoods out there, cowl induction, shaker to name two). Then there's wheel and tire combo's, lowering kits, body graphics.
There's engine tuners to boost performance, air intake kits, exhaust kits (single or dual).
Your limited only by your imagination and wallet!
Oh congrats on the ride, don't worry not everyone here is like TritonXLT. Some of us actually like to help others!

When I was 16 my choice of transportation was limited to either a red "vehicle" with the name of "Huffy" scrawled across the front, or a rusty, 4-door, pea-green, 1969 Oldsmobile Delta 88 that was handed down to me by my folks!
Kids in high school with new F-150's -- Lariats even?!
What kind of parents are out there these days that would hand a brand new vehicle to a 16 year old kid? And leasing the damn things to begin with? I'm incredulous!!
While I haven't had kids yet, all I can say is that if my son expects his old man to buy him a brand new vehicle at the age of 16, he's going to be bitterly disappointed! No f**king way!
Actually, I kind of feel sorry for these kids, because without having had the experience of patching together the "hand-me-down" beaters, they will never know the pride and satisfaction that comes with getting yourself to the point where you can finally afford to go out and buy that new F-150 on your own!
Damn -- I thought I was too young to have one of those "In My Day, Son..." rants!

Opps! I think I got the wrong thing going on here. I didn't call nox stupid, I was talking about the kids that were making fun of his ride that I was calling stupid. I just don't like people who tend to get jelouse and think of a way to mock someones hard at work money! I'm acually sticking up for Nox! I was just talking about the guys that were making fun of Noxes ride!

Don't knock the younger guys who's parents buy them these trucks, I feel VERY fortunate to have one of these, and I love it to death.

I was driving a 1973 Ford Pinto wagon when I was 16 (back in 1984). Leave the truck stock. The STX is pretty sweet looking all on its own and those people making fun are seriously jealous.
I'm looking to get an F-150 and I wish I could just go ahead and get a 4x2 but my driveway alone can get to looking like the Ho Chi Minh trail at times and I need the ability to get to work regardless what the weather is doing.

Wow, have times changed, or have they?
My parents bought me a wrecked 69 Fastback, and said if I fixed it, I could drive it. I did, and I loved it. Now, 21 years later, I've got another wrecked 69 Mach that I'm restoring.
Anyway, NOX, I'm not sure if you will ever come back and read these posts, being as it looks like this was your first and last post, but if you do, let me tell you something.
The fact that you are showing responsibility and some independence at your age is a rare and precious thing. If you are being man enough to do that, then why worry about the wanna-be's at school. That's a nice truck you have, and just because your juvenile contemporaries want to be asinine about it, you should be content with what it is. A nice ride.
I'm 37, and my FX4 is the first NEW auto I've ever owned. Your doing well my friend.
Swim upstream!
Blessings!
A couple comments. Driving through the local high scools' parking lot I see some pretty nice rides and wonder where does the money come from, I not opposed to anyone driving a nice machine but I'd hate to think somones ambition was being killed by spoiling parents. Our oldest drove our second hand and very ancient caravan while in school, the second oldest saved up her summer earnings and bought her own car (a Geo Prism that was also very second hand). When I was a kid cars were a luxury for highschoolers and I tend to think they should still be considered such. Other point, I'm driving an '05 F-150 STX 4X2 RC/short box with the 4.2L V6 by choice, I could have afforded pretty much any truck I wanted and this is what I chose. It fits my needs and uses. Its a GREAT TRUCK and you don't have to apologize or defend your ride to anyone! Enjoy!

Not knocking the kids at all - hell, if my old man had handed me a brand new truck at 16 I would have surely taken it!
I'm knocking the parents for cheating their children out of part of the set of life experiences that go into making a well rounded adult. Part of this experience is having to "make do" with less than you might want because it makes you appreciative of the good things in life when you finally earn your way there.
While this might be a hard concept for a teenager to understand without the hindsight that comes from living a few years (believe me - I thought my old man was a cheap SOB when he handed me the keys to that old Oldsmobile) I assure you it can be a very real and very important aspect that goes into making a responsible adult!
For what it's worth, looking back, thanks Dad - I miss you!

im 17 and i got a brand new stx scab. i love it even though it has a handful of problems. i was lucky to get this. i needed a truck and my dont wont buy used cars "its buying someone else's problems" everyone loves my truck. Most people think i dont know anything but i have been working on engines and now i know more than my dad.im about to put some mods on my truck but im going to wait until the warranty is up considering all the problems
Here's the way I see it. No matter how you get the truck or car or what model it is, it's yours and you should take care of it and enjoy it and be proud of it. Don't try to keep up with the "Jones's" you will only go broke and no one really cares anyway. Ask anyone on this forum and they will tell you the their truck is the best one here. Kids can be mean, and they say things to make themselves look better to the people around them, but in the end they are the ones that really look stupid making fun at someone else's expense. It shows their true character. People whom answer your questions and value your opinion are the really cool ones in life. So basically screw the people making fun of you or your truck and tell them that deep down, you know the it is true jealousey.
Also, I don't think anyone on this board can truthfully say that they would not have wanted their parents to buy them the coolest car or truck on the road when they were 16.
Last but least, do what makes you happy to your truck, not what me or anyone else says it cool.

I agree, when i was in high school i remember someone elses parents buying them one of the new Trans Ams, (i should say she), it was the best looking car i had ever seen. I had to work for my 1967 Mustang, but had a blast building the engine ect.
I would not have turned down anything that my parents would have givin me, so i have no problems with that. Since its new enjoy what you have, leave it stock!
