Most of the kids with new cars have parents with money...why should they drive beaters? They have been used to getting what they want and you can bet most of them will go on to college and make nice careers for themselves....I did. I got a full scholarship to college, so when I graduated my parents bought me a brand new 93 40th Anniv Corvette. Yeah, it was a hell of a nice car for a 18yo kid to have, but you can bet I took better care of that car better than most adults would have. When I have kids...(especialy a son) you can bet he won't be driving a beater either....and it won't be a fricken Honda (if thats what he wants he will have to buy it for himself!!!!)

Ditto! Im spoiled yet I think the thing that sets me apart is I at least know it and respect it and will work my **** off to earn it. I gues im not one to judge considering I am only 16 with a new 04 sitting in the driveway yet Im the youngest of 5 and my parents have raised me being very vocal and made sure I understand the the respect for the things I am given. My parents are probably the only ones on the face of this earth that had to beg me NOT to get a job! My moms theory is a minumim wage job does compare to a full ride to Texas A&M (which is worth much more than my truck), my job is to quote "make the grades". Therefore Ive tried my best and as of right now (not trying to brag... just dont want people to think im like some of the arrogant spoiled little kids that run around in there lariats) im number 3 in my class of 450. Long story short, Id be completely happy with my old 96 eclipse as long as it still moved and Im doing everything in my power to respect and in one way or another earn everything my parents have blessed me with!

 

Some kids grow up expecting everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. And you know the sad part? Most of them never grow out of it. Times are changing. Yes indeed.

 

I am 18 and in highschool. I drive a 04 lariat screw with 22 inch chrome rims and probably will wind up after all mods spending around 5-7k on just mods.

I am not going to say that my family is not well off but im going to say that my family worked their asses off to get what they got and it is the same with me.

When my grandmother passed away she left me a lexus 02 Lexus Rx300.. I sold that to my aunt and bought the truck from that money. Every mod that i have put on that truck has come from my paychecks from best buy. I go to school every day for 8 hrs and work every night till about 12 am.

Yes i do agree some kids do just have things handed to them. I dont think any of these kids parent give it to them because they didnt do something good to deserve it wether it be good grades or whatever. ( i say this excluding people who have extreem wealth. If bill gates's kids dont get at least a porch for their 16th birthday id have to slap him myselfe=P)

I have the most envied vehicle at my high school and noone there can say that i dont work for what i have=) I dont know if others here my age can say the same but id hope they could.

I know ur saying well u got a lexus handed to u on a silver platter but ya know id rather my grandmother over any vehicle and if this was someone other than I typing this id be happy for the person getting such a nice thing.

SO with all of this rambling the point is dont knock the kid for having a nice truck ..and for those kids who are messing with u ...probably is true they are just jellous. we truely do have one of the nicest vehicles on the road.

 

I'm not knocking him. I'm glad for him too. What's meant to be is meant to be. Sorry to hear about your grandmother Rman. I had a particular person I know in mind when I posted that last post. Nothing against any of you guys. If I were 16 or 17 again, and was offered a brand new ford truck from my parents or grandparents, I sure wouldn't turn it down! I wasn't given a new truck when I was in high school, I had to go out and get it myself and pay for the gas and insurance on my own. But if everybody's life story was the same, it'd be a boring world now wouldn't it? That's what makes the world go round. Enjoy your trucks guys.
