ok right now im looking at a fx4 with leather and the center shifter but its not lariat

i have been hearing about the center shifter occasionally getting stuck and park and i heard about one guy who had his stuck in park for like a week so far and the problem wasnt fixed yet

how big a problem is this and should this make me think twice about buying one?

It's not like this is the first time Ford has made a floor shifter. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Besides, if it's a big problem as some people are saying, I am sure Ford will be on top of fixing it.

Just keep in mind that of the millions of owners, only a select few on here verbally complain about their problems. So yeah the problem might exist, but it's a VERY small proportion relative to the rest of the owners.

Go for it! I got one and I love it!

I have the flow thru and no problems. Now there has been a bed shake that PI^^E^ me off but i shift fine and i have 5800 miles on her. Also if they didn't find the problem on this simple shift system they are not really looking. Cmon its a cable right and a push button release. If it"s that stuck it's in the trans and they are trying not to kill first year release.Say i also work at ford and have owned a 99 and a 03 F150. ALL FLARE SIDES THEY ROCK ON LOL J/K

I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like an isolated incident.

There is section in the manual to deal with this i believe. If it gets stuck thers a release if u pull the console plate to get it unstuck. The procedure in the manual outlines the solution.

IT's been three months since i looked at the book. But i believe it's a part on the tail lights or brake light's in the manual. It's for releasing the shifter in that situation. Like a saftey lock out??

ran 12.05 with some boltons stock motor and turbo turned up a bit. Rebuilt the engine n new turbo havent taken it to the track. I imagine low 11s. Perhaps high 10s depending on weather and track conditions . Its a t-top car though, dont want it much faster than 11.5. Body flex is bad.
