Thumbs down *** 2004 F-150 FX4 - Problems-HELP! ***

First of all, I love my truck, but want it to be perfect for a few thousand miles for $35K...

I traded in my 2003 Explorer which never saw the shop in 1 year and 20,000 miles except for oil changes... So this is quite a headache... Anyone else have similar problems??? My ford was build 04/04 in VA, so I figured I would miss these problems. I have been trying to get the vibration fixed with tires and balances. This has not helped...

Mileage Service Performed Reason

950 Replace Tailgate Straps Different Size (RH longer)
*** IT APPEARS THIS IS NORMAL, LOOK AT YOUR TRUCK...

2600 Replace LF Tire Tread Seperation
*** ACTUALLY A TEAR BETWEEN TOP TREAD AND SIDEWALL

2800 Replace 4 Tires/Static Balance Tread Seperation/Defects
*** ACTUALLY A TEAR BETWEEN TOP TREAD AND SIDEWALL OTHER TIRES WERE SCUFFED FROM THE FACTORY

2980 OLF, Dynamic Rebalance Replace Fuel Filler Door Spring Broke
Replace Left Side Bed Trim Factory Scratched
Replace Overhead Console / Removable Tray Factory

3100 Replace Trailer Running Lights Fuse (20A) Blown

************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ******

STILL NEED TO GET DONE...
3200 Replace Right Side Box Trim (On Order Still) Factory Scratched
Replace Removeable Tray For Stock One (Ordered 8-29) Wrong One Installed

Axel whine 40-60, wheel tires spin and rebalance,
Bad wheel, vibration most speeds, driveshaft?

AC blows cool, not cold, check levels and
Reprogram PCM
Slight delay in ACCEL, reprogram COMP.

JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THESE PROBLEMS... AS LONG AS I CAN GET THE VIBE. FIXED I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE LITTLE STUFF, FORD WILL FIX THAT STUFF... IF I WANTED A VIBE., I WOULD HAVE A PONTIAC...

So far I have the vibration issue, and the check engine/wrench light came on. Hopefully the check engine and wrench light was fixed with a PCM flash. My truck has been at the dealership for five weeks now for the vibration issue. So far I have only driven the truck for two months out of the three months that I have been making payments to the bank.

Wow! That is bad. Why don't you file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office. I know that the PA AG is quite active in consumer issues. This can be seperate of any lemon law action.

Mine was built in VA 12/03, no problems to make a fuss about. The truck runs great. I do have a little steering nibble at around 65 but then again its a truck so I chalk it up to acceptable. If I wanted a lexus I would have bought one. Besides, you should see the nibble in that wheel at 15mph over rocks and logs, now thats something to call home about.

I noticed the tailgate cables too.

Same side.

It appears most if not all have the same RH being longer.

I chalk this up to the tailgate not being perfectly flat in the down position due to the torsion bar.

Lots of looks, no takers

Well, there is a pretty drastic ratio between looks / posts...

Anyway, the good side of things is that I am getting more compliments on this truck than any other vehicle I have ever driven... (includes Blazer, Expedition, Explorer)...

I do like the innovative features, all of which work well, but these damn annoyances suck...

Same here, except for a few squirls on the hood and tailgate from the dealer! Oh well I can take care of that, otherwise this black and chrome F150 is perfect!

I've read the the threads on the vibe issue. What i feel while driving is a very sensitive feel of the road. Some are viby and some roads are super smooth at the same speeds. I enjoy that feel of the steering . This is my first 4WD FX4 38k https://www.f150online.com/gallierie....cfm?gnum=4490

I have the 01 ford Lariat...It uses more gas than my 02 Windstar Van...But once the dealer fixed the front end pulling to the right thing, I have to say we both love to drive this truck more than the van...and We have crappy rs/t goodyear tires on it as well...16-18+ MPG around town as well...I keep 35 PSI in the tires...have a K&N air filter in a 4.6 motor and use only 5w20 ford oil...

BUT I know its the little things not working right on a truck that hurt..So I know how you feel...Hope you don't lose that trust a guy feels for his rig...I hope mine keeps working 100% like it is now...
