Dreaded Vibe
My dealer now has ordered a new rearend for my 04 F-150 Supercrew. This is the third time that we have had problems with the limited slip clutches. We also still have the dreaded vibration. Maybe this will fix that also. We are still waiting for the DSB to respond for the final time. We were told that they could not look at our case that it wasn't within their jurisdiction due to possible liability issues.
Anyone else had this type of response from the DSB?

Got a call from the service guy at work around 130pm today. He said they have it fixed. I couldn't get out off work to go check, but I'm headed in tomorrow morning at 0800 to see. He said the tech wanted to ride with me, so this doesn't sound promising. I so want this problem to be over. I'm really getting down. Will post more when I come back home tomorrow.

Here it is this lovely Tuesday morning and off to the dealership I go. A new rear end and driveshaft later it still vibrates like crazy, especially with a trailer. I have a total of 6800 miles and have never felt like I owned it, except when I make the payment and it's in the shop. I carry all my crap in a grocery bag and move it from the vibrator to the rental, back to the vibrator, back to the rental...this bites.

The latest TSB - 8 had a sketch on the last page to show the difference if that will help.
I heard all the o5's have the snap ring u-joints.
Finally and FSE...
Mine went in this morning, a short 6 weeks after the service manager drove it. Hopefully I don't get a squirrely FSE who says the same thing the service technician said on trip #1: it's a truck! It's supposed to drive like that!
After waiting all this time, and having been in for 3 road force balances/tire replacements/wheel replacements, what did they give me for a loaner? A Chrysler Sebring. It's the equivalent of getting onto Houston freeways in a go-cart.

So I go in this morning to see if I'm "fixed". Good to know the piece of junk is still a piece of junk. Absolutely no change if any. So I add the body mount kit and rear trans mount to the list of things that didn't help. The service guy said they weren't working on it any more so I asked for the FSE. They said no problem and will let me know when the appointment is. Calling Ford right now to get my DSB paperwork.
Good luck guys. I sent in my paperwork around Jan 1st. I should hear back by Mid-feb. I'm sure my dealer won't rush sending in their paperwork since they suck so bad. Mine continues to worsen, it's not just vibrating now but as developed random front-end shakes as well.

Anybody that says that "vibration is normal" is an idiot. It would be worth your effort to make them eat that truck. Then post on here the name of the Ford Representative that told you that. Thats ASSININE!
My dealer has satisfied me so far. If my truck is still vibrating, I am missing something. If it starts again, 4th strike in Tennessee. Couldn't be more pleased with it now.

Guess What...
No big surprise to truck owners on this forum, but the FSE and service manager decided that the vibration in my truck is "normal", yet they didn't follow the existing TSBs regarding vibration in 2004 F150's. They went to great lengths to tell me that 4x4's will drive rougher than 4x2's, and this is just a characteristic of the new F150 4x4.
Ford Customer Support said they will support any decision that their dealer reaches. Sooooo...looks like we're headed the DSB route. Wish me luck- so far I feel like Ford has effectively roadblocked every attempt I've made at getting the truck fixed.
