The BRAKE Master Thread
OK these squealing brakes are killing me. I will fix this problem if it's the last thing I do. Surely somebody has corrected this issue on this forum. So what's the fix? Is anyone replacing the pads with ceramic or different kinds of pads? The dealer already told me to go get bent, he said all pads will squeal, I disagree, but it doesn't change the fact that they won't fix them, and I have to hear them. I'm willing to spend my own time/money to fix this or I'm driving this thing to the junk yard and lighting it on fire. Help me please. Thanks.

My brakes have squealed a few times.
Just FYI. Most break noise is caused by harmonic vibrations between the non-friction material of the pad and other parts that they touch.
The squealing is NOT coming from the pad to rotor so changing to ceramic will not help.
If your breaks squeal that bad then apply some "BREAK QUIET" from Murrays or Auto Zone. Apply it to the back side of the pad (metal backing plate) and all around the top and bottom of the pad where it slides on the pad fixture.
DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON THE FRICTION MATERIAL OF YOUR PADS OR ON YOUR ROTOR. THE ONLY NOISE THAT COMES FROM THIS AREA OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS GRINDING WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF FRICTION MATERIAL AND NEED NEW PADS... I DOUBT THIS IS YOUR CASE.

So let me get this strait... None of you guys have the brake trouble even though I've seen 10 threads about people complaining about it. OK then.

I've got 8500 miles on my truck. The squealing started at 500 miles. No matter what I do it's there. I can go to a car wash and clean them as best as I can but to no prevail, the notorious squeal. I've read threads on de-glazing them, they say to get going really fast and hammer the brakes. This is what I thought caused the glazing, so I didn't want to do that. Desperate times call for desperate measures so I tried it (what could it hurt right) and nothing happened. I can't believe no one will step up and say they have the problem, I’m astonished. This is one of the major problems with this truck, the vibrations issue, the poor A/C performance, and for the love of God, the squealing brakes. Maybe someone with this trouble will chime in and tell me what I can do to solve this trouble before I whip out the Zippo.
I’m saying, there ain’t nothing wrong with my truck! The brakes are just fine, they don’t squeal, the A/C is ice cold and I live in FL so I think I’m a pretty good judge of A/C performance, and guess what, no vibrations issue either, so I’m stepping up and I’m chiming in, there ain’t nothing wrong with my truck!
So let me recap for you.
