Question To lift or not lift...that is the question!

Ok, I've got myself all confused. First of all, my truck is a 4x2, not 4x4. I really don't /didn't need the 4x4 capability. My problem is this...which way to take the truck...here's what I'm thinking;

1) lower the back end by 2 inches with a spring kit I saw. Slap some nice 20's on it, add some other touches. From a pratical stand point, this seems to make the most sense for me. Nice clean, finished look.

-or-

2) Lift the rig, add some biggers tires and wheels and go with that look. Problem is, I don't want to be some poser out there with a wanna be 4x. I just like the look on this truck. It seems to really fit the body style. If I go with this, I'll probably need to remove the running boards, and add a set of those automatic drop-down steps.

I use the truck for normal household truck duties. Moving stuff, dirt for the yard, toting bikes, etc. I also tow a 20' bass boat. Oh, I also tote customers around on occassion.

Thoughts? What's the down side of lifting a 4x2? Any? What would you do?

just 'cause you don't have 4x4 doesn't mean you can't have a nice lifted truck!!!!

i have a 4x2 XLT with the autospring spacers, and am running 285/70R17's... a 33" equivalent, and IMO it looks great!

take a look in my gallery, and see what you can do with a 4x2

HE HE HE

I asked the same question. It's your personal preference.

Keep in mind, if your on a budget, level it by lowering the rear. If you raise the front to level it, you will have to buy new wheels and tires if you want it to look good.

Thats why I havent raised the front end of mine yet.

First off a lot of people raise 4x2 trucks. Second who is going to even know its 2wd once you lift it. And finally...and this is only MHO trucks with "bling bling" rims look ridiculous. I say go with the lift if thats the look you want and you are right the lifted look really suits this truck best.

I have a Small lift on my 2wd w/265's(32's), now how would this make me look like a poser, it seems to me that I own A TRUCK, not a compact car why would I go lower, its not a Civic, and if I go higher why would anybody think im trying to be a Poser Kook, I didnt need 4wd, probally never will in Fla, and wouldnt dream of scrathing my truck off road...AHHHHG, Hell no I dont like driving in grass cause it gets my tires dirty.. just my two cents though.. but I do think some of the Trucks with the Dubs on this site are sweet, not my thing but very nice!

check out my gallery for a lifted 2wd with 32's

Thanks all!

Lot's o f nice looking rigs out there. I need to do a bit more shopping this weekend and look at some different ideas. I did talk to a shop today (Gary's in Onartio) that suggested the lifted approach, using the stock 18" wheels and adding 33's. I did see some sweet Weld rims, but that would certainly blow the budget!

Wandell: I like your answer!! Stock needs some help.

tpeterson: How much lift do you have on your rig?

Anaheim: Sure you want to drive that far? Hehe

jamz: Add the sticker! I'll try to get a shot added to my gallery of the one I have on my window. It's the Bad Boy character with a bent rod and a jumping bass.

Again, thank all! I appreciate the opinions.
