Something I've noticed about this board...

The vast majority of you guys have Lariats and FX4s. Am I the only one here with a 2004 STX?

Here are some shots of my truck. IMO, she's the hottest looking truck I've ever seen!:

A great looking truck! I've seen a few others that have STXs. To me, it seems like FX4s are the most popular package.

According to my dealer Lariats and FX4's are selling about the same. The FX4's might have advantage in sales but not much. All of the trucks are awesome. When my truck was in the shop last week, They gave me an 04 XLT Screw. It was real nice, but still not the lariat of FX4.

STX is nice looking truck by the way.

I like them all.

I got the FX4 because it had all the options I wanted.

Thats the cool thing about the F150, there is a model to suit just about everyone.

I wanted the flow through interior in leather, so FX4 or Lariat.
Other than that your STX looks very much like my truck.

I drive an XLT model, and would love to have the front end of the FX4 or STX, that color keyd bumper looks very nice.

I love my Lariat and the cool things it comes with...But your truck is very sharp and I really like the painted bumper and higher back box...Like was said here Ford has a truck for just about anyone that has good taste like we all do here...

Will,

I really like the tiedowns on the side. Did they come with the truck, or where did you get them. I'm looking for a set like that.

By the way, my XLT Scab is the same color as yours.

They come with the truck. My FX4 flareside also has them. They've been very handy, I'm glad I got the flareside.

just remember that this forum is a very small sampling of 04 F-150 owners. we may not be representative of all 04s sold, I don't know.

for those that bought the XLT or STX, I consider you the wisest of the bunch. If I had it to do over again I'd buy an XLT. Lariat stuff is nice, but quite honestly it is a little excessive for a truck. Leather, EATC, computer, power everything, yada yada yada. Not a knock on other Lariat or FX4 owners, I'm just saying for myself I would not buy a "luxury truck" again. to each his own. good job Ford.

Thanks for the compliments, everyone! As for the tiedowns, yes they did come with the truck. In fact, they were the main thing that attracted me to this particular model. I had always thought that the Explorer Sport Track looked cool and I had driven one, but it was way too small. These tie downs look way better than what's on the Sport Track. The only thing I didn't get with this truck that I wanted was speed control... BUT... someone pointed me in the direction of the Ford Genuine Parts website and they have a new steering wheel with the cables!!!

I did a lot of research before buying my XLT Screw. I found, for my tastes, the XLT was the most customizable F150 out there. It seemed to fall right in the middle as far as picking options from the XL and STX class while also picking some of the options available for the FX4 and Lariat.

The only option I wished for and wasn't available was that the grille surround on my XLT only came in the body color. Since then, I have swapped out the grille surround for a chrome one I ordered for a Lariat model but I kept the black honeycomb grille. I think it really looks sharp since the XLT already comes with the chrome bumpers.

But overall, I love the new line of F-150's. I haven't seen one yet that I don't like.

Great looking truck! I love that color, and the Flareside just sets it off. I don't think there are enough F-150 configurations available, though. When I was shopping the 2004s, I wanted a Lariat or an FX4 that is extended cab, flareside with a 5.4 and leather tan interior with a front bench seat, the audiophile system. That's not too much to ask, is it?
