OK I am not satisfied with the anwsers from the other Boards: FTE, FTW etc.. will you help me????

I am defintly getting new tires for my 04 150 2wd XLT Flareside w/ Daystar lift, currently there are P255/65/17's continentals on it, and there history, too small, I have only found BFG AT TA's in 285/70/17's=$880.00 OTD , Now in 265/70/17's I found a nicer selection and choose a Cooper Discovery AT=$474.00 OTD..

So how would the 285's ride?
Will they fill the fender too much?
Price is a bit much, and i know you get what you pay for!

Will the 265's look much better than stock, compared to 285's?
I can defintly swing the $474.00, the 285's would have to go on plastic!

MOST IMPOTANTLY, I NEED TO SEE SOME PICS OF THE TWO SET UPS..............PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I don't have pics but I think the 285's would look much better then the 265's. not sure what kind of look your going for though.

$880!!! for 285's wow. I am going to get pro comp 33x12.5x17 mud tires for about 650 out the door. < going to try to wait untill they do their buy 3 get the 4th free > so it will cut the cost about 150 bucks. They are going to go on weld sidwinders 17x10 rims. I got the rims for 800 bucks with push throughs so I payed 80 bucks for the weld covers.

Its been a real toss up for me too wether to get the BFG mud terrains or the all terrains. Are the muds a lot louder? wear faster? because they look a hell of a lot better. And the thing is I am still only going to see mud and offroad on weekend trips. How are they on the road?

 

Mud Terrains are way loader than AT's, and wear quicker!

I did for about 2 weeks. They look like wus tires on this big truck. I had to go with the 315's.

 

OK, Im set on the 285/70/17's, too bad there only available in BFG's, and BadYears.......

 

Toyo also makes a 285/17 (open country)

 

How Much? 285/70/17's

 

Take a look at the Cooper Discoverer S/T. Priced cheaper than the BFG's but still have great looks and great wear. I have heard 80,000 miles with religious 8,000 mile rotation. If you dont rotate they will cup, and once they start it is hard to correct. I would have these on my truck right now but they were on backorder when I needed tires last fall. The snow was flying so I couldnt wait.

They come in:

LT265/70/17
LT275/70/17 (which is almost identical to a 285)
33X12.50R17LT (same dia. as 285, slightly wider tread)

Went to Tire store yesterday, and they said these tires are not yet available in 275's till end of June or later.... they also said to go with the 265 AT's $470.00 out the door.....
Might just do that, and wait to get 285's next maybe????
