X-Plan

Hello everyone

I was wondering if anyone here might have an extra x pin they don't mind giving away...

I have my eye on a new cobra to go with my f150 and would love to get the x discount..

Thanks in advance......

xplan== gimick

I really think the xplan is a gimick.

Go to forddirect.com and get the invoice price [ala xplan price]
then go shopping and find the dealer that will give the invoice price.

wola, you have a self made xplan.

we did xplan with our 04 f150

we saved money by not using xplan on our 04 escape.

bottom line for us is don't depend on a pricing gimic. Do your pricing homework.

If noone has one to give, you can buy a few shares of Ford stock. This will make you eligible for X plan. I bought 10 shares at 10.63/share and sent in the form with a copy of the statement showing ownership of Ford (F) stock. They will email you a pin. It worked for me!!

Re: X-Plan

I must not be as lucky because the dealers I have dealt with would only give me the car for $30,890 with the x plan and dealer incentives.. And with the cobra I have only three SVT dealerships in the area to deal with but thanks for the info....

That is a great idea but the problem for me is that I need the pin before the end of the week when the car arrives...

My company deals with Ford parts so we do get a few X-Plans but the sales VP has them and he took vacation for the next two weeks....

Re: xplan== gimick

I too got my '04 f-150 with xplan and to be accurate it was a few %'s below invoice. I made sure to negotiate with the dealer before mentioning that I had xplan so as to get all possible discounts (got $1000 Ford cash back and $500 dealer incentive). I think if you went in and got invoice for a truck the dealer would be much less inclined to offer any other incentives.

mikey88, could you elaborate on how you got your pin?

You said, "This will make you eligible for X plan. I bought 10 shares at 10.63/share and sent in the form with a copy of the statement showing ownership of Ford (F) stock."

How did you purchase the stock, what form do I need, and where do I send this form?

Any further info. would help greatly! Thanks.

I purchased the Ford stock thru a golfing buddy who works in that industry. Anyone who sells stocks or works for a investment company can buy it for you. You can also setup an ameritrade account and do it yourself. It sounds difficult, but it's not. I have several of the forms in my desk and will be happy to send you one. If you do it, just email me and I'll fax or email you the form. There is no minimum amount you have to buy.

X-Plan

The thing about the x-plan is that you go in and there is a set price with a very good discount. The buyer has all the power. Without the plan, the dealer has all the leverage. He can work the numbers to make them look good, but the dealer still wins out for the most part. Also with the x-plan I think you do not pay the processing fee and you get discounts on the extended warranty and other add ons.
Last week my neighbor went to a dealer to buy an Explorer. When they told the salesman they have and x-plan pin #, he said, "forget that, we can do better". Now what advantage would the salesman have by giving a better deal than the x-plan. None except for the fact now he can play the numbers game. My neighbors are young and have never bought a new car. When they were done he was setting them up with a "deal" along with 7.9% for 72 months even though they have excellent credit according to the dealer. He also told them they had to buy the extended warranty and put the screws to them.
You might be able to work a better deal without the x-plan, but it takes all the games away and gives you power, not the salesman.

Personally, I think the Xplan is a good bargaining tool. I didn't mention that I had it and went to three dealers to get prices on a new truck and what my trade is worth. After getting prices, I called each a few times to barter down. Most of my dealings were on the phone. I feel more comfortable that way because I can ask to speak directly to the owner or sales manager and if I don't get them I hang up.

Finally I had all the prices to what I thought was the lowest point, (which never is but you have to give in sometime). One dealer offered to sell at invoice and the other wanted 400 over invoice. But the one that wanted 400 over offered 1000 more for my trade. So then I pulled out the Xplan. Voila, got it for 50 below invoice and 1000 more for my trade than the other dealer offered.

I just bought a 2004 supercrew using the x plan. Sticker was 41700 and the x plan got it to 35600. The dealer only wanted to drop 1000 off the price before I told him I had the x plan. He said it is a popular truck and he didn't have to deal. I told him I am not walking or taking the bus so I don't have to buy. I then reminded him there are at least 10 other ford dealers within a half hour drive.

A little side note, what a great truck. Fords have always made a good pickup but this one is spectacular. I've leased my last 3 and the lease options were not that appealing this time. So far very glad I bought it and I think the x plan was a big help in bring a super expensive truck a little closer to affordable.

I recently bought an 04 SCrew on the Z-Plan. While this plan is a little better than Z-Plan, I have found that you have other bargaining tools. I negotiated until I got 900 over Kelly Blue Book for my trade in (which is still pretty bad but I have had hard times in the past even getting to blue book). I also negotiated things like LineX (Free.. lomg story) Step Bars (@ Cost), Window tint half off dealer contracted price and 6 free oil changes.

Point I am making is that X and Z plans are a fixed price on the purchase, but you can still negotiate for other items (Contrary to popular belief). My In-laws get ripped when they try to trade in or negotian with the Z-Plan.. I will be negotiating their next purchase (F150 this fall).

Any dealer that says he doesn't want to deal with X or Z plan is full of it. I even had the sales manager admit that he makes decent money and it is almost a garunteed deal with a plan member. I will be buying two more new vehicles withing the next two years (I told him that and they were more willing to work with me too)

If you can get the X or Z-Plan, it is definitely a good starting point.

Well, the X-Plan was good to me...I knew exactly what I wanted, they ordered it and it is on its way....

No haggling, no secret costs, just an easy time...
