Carbon Fiber Parts

I work for a small composites manufacturing company, and I am considering making a clear coated Carbon Fiber bug deflector for my '04. I am curious if anyone else would buy one if I made the first and took some pictures of it (say around $150)? If anyone is interested, as well as in other carbon parts for their '04's, let me know. I have been aching to make some trim parts for the interior, but knowing other people are interested may push me into making them sooner than later!!

Email me with questions: bpaul240@lycos.com

If you promise to use ZOLTEK carbon fiber stock, I might be interested.

I've often wondered what is the advantage of carbon fiber. I know it's rather expensive, but why would I pay the extra money?

Zoltek no longer exists...we use ACG material...only the best!!

1depd, you are right, in many applications, carbon has ablsolutely no advantage and is more expensive. This may be one of those applications. I happen to really dig the look of a clear coated composite, especially a black woven fabric like carbon fiber. I think it adds some character, and in this case may save a few ounces (honestly unoticeable). Inside the cab, similar, small weight savings but cool unique look.

I was just curious if anyone would like similar parts...but no big deal if no one is interested...might just make them anyway!!

I have been thinking about getting interior trim pieces made out of real carbon fiber to replace the fake stuff in my Fx4. I think the real stuff would look MUCH better.

I forgot about the weight savings. Thanks for clearing that up.

Well, doesnt seem like too many people are that interested, but I am going to go ahead and make a few parts anyway...I will post some pics when I am done and if anyone wants a few parts then, just let me know!! Once I build one part, making 100 more are a piece of cake....

That would be nice if an aftermarket company could replace the interior trim (especially in my Lariat) with Carbon fiber-type material. I think the hard part would be making the replacement trim with matching mounting clips, etc. but I dont know how they are made, so I can keep my hopes up. Any aftermarket companies listening - we're waiting!

I replaced the majority of my old Honda Accord interior trim panels with carbon fiber...worked pretty well. At honda you could order the clips from the dealer in quantities of 100...I was thinking about seeing if you could do the same at ford!

Im sure lots o people would be down for one of them
