Yes, that's a good price. I ordered mine direct from the manufacturer (Applied Products) and this is what they charge:

Retrax for '04 SuperCrew: $889.00
Gate Gasket: $23.00
Lock cover: $9.50
Shipping: $48.00

 

How simple is setup for the mechanically challenged individual?

 

It's simple enough. The directions are pretty good. Just take your time and have an extra set of hands available to help you out and you'll do fine.

Tools needed:
#2 Philips screwdriver
9/16" wrench (preferably ratchet)
Drill to drill drain tube holes through the oval drain plugs (I forgot what size bit I used)
To adjust the steel tip that contacts the rail for the lock, you need a 7/16" wrench and a 1/8" Allen (hex) head wrench.

If you have those things, you're ready. (If not, you need to get yourself some tools...)

Looks like Jeff went up $50 since November when I ordered mine. Can't really blame him though, still alot cheaper than ordered directly from Retrax. Also, installation is very easy. You only need an extra set of hands to lift it up and onto the truck. It's not very heavy, just a close fit.

Hey guys, I got a quote from JnJ for $850, which includes retrax, gasket, key slot cover and shipping.

Sounds like a good price? Cold weather is coming and I want some cover back there.

Thanks Jon. I just ordered it. I hope I got the right one. According to the application guide their is one for "F-150 5.5ft. Bed (04)" and one for "F-150 SuperCrew (4-doors) (04)". I'm not really sure why there would be a difference in the two. I know not all F-150's are 5.5' but all Screws are. Weird.

Anyway, I'll post some pics when I get it installed.

 

Hey fellas, I am on my second Retrax cover for a second truck and I think it is the best thing out there. Just wanted to let my fellow Canadians know that with the increase in the CDN dollar you can get a great deal on this cover and there is a CDN distributor in Winnipeg who can ship it from MB without the duties etc. I am not affilliated with that company but their service has been excellent both times I have purchased from them.

 

If you have the factory bed liner, you will need to cut some notches in the corners with a Dremel or a Dremel like tool to get it to fit properly.
