Recommendations for a 4WD shop in the Bay Area (CA)??

Hi all,

Looking for an honest & reliable 4WD shop in the bay area... know of any?? I am down to a coin toss between putting on a 6" Fabtech or just going for a 3" body lift for my ordered 2004 SCrew.

Thanks,
DJ

not sure if there is a 4 Wheel Parts around you but thats a great shop. before you decide which lift to put id recommend finding examples of each to decide what you like best.

personally id go for the 6, but you may not like it as much. a dealer by my house has a blue 04 on display with at least a 6" and it looks great. better than any other lifted truck.

you also gotta consider the bigger tires/lower gas mileage. ive also heard that when you get bigger tires the speedometer isnt as accurate so may need to get that fixed afterwards

My brother is going to use Custom Trucks Unlimited in Livermore. Since you are in Dublin, they are right around the corner. He told me of one other place too, I'll try and find out from him where that one is. Might be up closer to me in Antioch which is definitely farther than Livermore for you!

Thanks Jeffro! Took a look at their website and it looks like a good starting point. If you get the name of the other shop, I would appreciate it also.

Late,
DJ

4 wheel parts is on san carlos in san jose, they're you're best bet. There are some good kit options coming out next month... I'd suggest waiting... as hard as that is to do!!!

Hey FX4,

This is Jeffro7172's bro. I'm veering towards going to Custom Trucks Unlimited in Livermore to have my truck done. The other place is Lift Kit Werehouse in Antioch. My neighbor had his Jeep lifted there (LKW) and he said they do good work. For a 4" Rancho/ 5"RCD their price was about $1600 for the kit and $600 for installation. In Livermore, CTU quoted me about the same for lift and $450 w/ installation. I just felt like CTU answered my questions more effectively and their customer service over the phone was better - plus, the product and work comes with a lifetime warranty.

Hope this helps
Dan

Hey Dan,

Thanks for the reply. What year is the ford you are raising? and which body stlye? After an in depth look at CTU's website it really looks like these guys know what they are doing. I was a bit worried that they might charge a ton, but your post sounds encouraging.

If everything goes OK, I should be getting my ordered 04 Screw sometime in Feb. Hopefully, there will be a couple of lift options out by then. So far this is what I have been able to find:

Fabtech 6" - Dec
Skyjacker 3"/4" - Jan/Feb
SkyJacker 6" - Jan/Feb
ProComp 6" - Supossedly now
Rancho?
RCD?

Thanks again.... once you get the work done, be sure to drop a note to let me know how it went.

DJ

Don't forget CST is coming out with a 6"-8" lift sometime in the next month or so.

hey DJ,

I have a '99 F150 4x4 4.6L FIPK & 50 series si/do exhaust. I, like you, am a transplant from San Diego and found it hard to find a good place. More than likely, I'll have my truck done at the end of the month...I'll keep ya posted.
