Commercial of F-150 pulling a trailer against a Dodge

I have heard of the commercial where a F-150 is pulling a mustang and a Dodge is pulling a mopar, problem is I have never seen it....

A Dodge friend of mine who says he is buying the new Dodge Hemi said he watched the commercial last night and that the Dodge ate the Ford up. Is he right or is he pulling my leg?

I have got to see this for myself. Does anyone know where I can find the commercial, I have been looking.

Thanks

freddy

I did see that one, but do you belive all you hear/see in a commercial. Kindof like the chevy commercials where the truck is larger than life, commercials lie to try to sell. but i'll let you decide what you want. i dont know where to find it just watch tv more and you might see it.. J/k

No I don't always believe what I hear, but in this case it is more of a friendly game my friend and I play against each other. You know the story, I tell him my truck is better and he tells me his is better and at the end of it all our wives tell us to take out the trash and cut the grass......

just havin fun

You want to see a true commercial of a Ford pulling a Mustang kicking the Hemi Dodge’s *** pulling a Mopar?

Have Ford do it with a Lightning…

The Ford beat the Dodge in that commercial. I think it has something to do with the Ford having more low end torque than the Dodge when towing. But if you were to have a flat out drag race on a drag strip with no trailers to pull, the Dodge would win. But who drag races their trucks anyways?

Dodge also has a full page ad in USA today claiming that the hemi has more horsepower than any half ton truck bar none. I guess they haven't seen the Lightning.

At the bottom of the ad the small print says, "excluding limited production trucks." Good going dudge.

The ad was making these claims for their 5.7 V-8 Hemi.

I have heard of it and it is basically a truck for a true moron with absolutely no common sense whatsoever.

SRT-10:

Price $46,000
HP – 500
TQ – 540
0 – 60 – 5.2 *(only with a skilled driver)
Ό mile – 13.7 *(only with a skilled driver)
Top speed – 150mph

It has a manual transmission so most people will never see the “quoted” specs.

Lightning:

Price $33,000
HP – 380
TQ – 450
0 – 60 – 5.4 *(any driver can do)
Ό mile – 13.8 *(any driver can do)
Top speed – 149mph

Has an automatic transmission so all you have to do is mash the pedal...

Oh and tow ratings:

Lighting – 5,000lbs
SRT-10 – Not recommended

Since the SRT-10 can not tow anything it’s not really a truck to begin with.

So you tell me which is better? Spend $13,000 more for something that can not tow and will get beat the vast majority of the time on the street and track with two ordinary drivers. Put a skilled driver in the SRT-10 and it will be extremely close on the street and track and will get beat a fair amount of time.

Not a flame, just an education...

Exactly. I looked all around at one of the first SRT-10s in Texas. The manual transmission has the exact same issues that Viper owners have complained about for years. It takes a skilled driver to maintain traction and row that box to get those times. Members here run 13.6 in their stock Lightnings all the time and run in the 12s with under $2,000 worth of mods. The Dodge dealer also wanted a $5,000 premium price added on to the MSRP of the SRT-10. Any member here can ask for an X-plan pin in the Lightning forums here and get a Lightning for $29,800. Added information might include quality. The 2004 Lightning body style has been refined since 1997 and has addressed many problems. It's simply the finest pickup ever built. Most insiders won't suggest that the first few years of production of a vehicle are highly refined for problems. Just like every body style before it, there will be many problems to address on the new style F-150, the SRT-10, or the new style Lightning in the future (the word now is 2006). This is easily proven by the number of TSBs and Recalls.

Thumbs down

I've said it before and I'll say it again, all you'll ever have is just a dodge, nothing special, just a dodge
