Lower: Dorman 615285

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...+manifold,5536

You will have to fabricate a plate to cover the IMRC port if you don't have a IMRC.

Ford part numbers, which you will never find anywhere except in a junkyard:

Upper: F85Z9424BA
Lower: F75Z9424AB

Edit: Found a Dorman upper:

Need Upper manifold, not lower

i can find the lower manifold easy... it’s the upper one that is leaking coolant out of the rear pipe that goes to the heater core. It should be as easy as ordering any other year, but alas, the 97 is a weird year. No upper manifold to speak of unless I buy from a wrecking yard.

Cracked at manifold

i wish replacing the pipe would do it. The manifold is cracked at the pipe area. Thanks for finding the Dorman replacement part... I wish it didn’t cost as much as a whole good used motor.

Have you considered welding the crack?

Welding

I’m going to try wrecking yard first, then JB Weld is my next choice.

Those old aluminum manifolds are getting very scarce, especially since there were only 2 years for the non-PI 5.4 in the F150 - 1997 and 1998. Here's the interchange:

1997-1999 Ford E-150 Econoline Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1997-1999 Ford E-150 Econoline Club Wagon Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1997-1999 Ford E-250 Econoline Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1997-1999 Ford E-350 Econoline Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1997-1999 Ford E-350 Econoline Club Wagon Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1997-1999 Ford Econoline Super Duty Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1997-1998 Ford Expedition Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1997-1998 Ford F-150 Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1997-1998 Ford F-250 Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty Upper 5.4L 8Cyl
1998 Lincoln Navigator Upper 5.4L 8Cyl

Thanks for all your help

Well, I sealed everything up really well. Took my time with everything step by step. Put everything back together snug as a bug in a rug, but alas, it still leaks. Time to sell the truck. Any more time or money and I’ll be upside down in it twice over. I’m a ford guy through and through, but there’s a limit to a guys sanity.

Every vehicle is going to cost mucho dinero one way or the other, purchase price, repairs, depreciation, something. You makes your choice and you pays your money.

^ Very true!

My buddy is going through hardship with a lease right now on a Honda CRV.

Paying around $300 a month, and they nickle and dime him every time he has it's scheduled maintenance done to it. Now he needs new tires, and his lease it up in less than a year. Just in work, he's had to dump about $1800 into a LEASE -- not including those tires!

So no matter if you buy and finance, own, or even lease, cars/trucks COST. There is no get out of jail free card here... you pay!

Only way to get out of it -- use your own two feet or public transportation. For most, that's not an option.
