May be a total noob question but...
For starters...I have a bone stock 01 Screw 4.6 2wd. I recently purchased an SCT SF3 3015 from MPT that came with their 3 free tunes. I chose to do a 93 Octane Performance Engine Tune With a Race Trans Tune. I've yet to do a dyno test but plan to soon. I've noticed a HUGE gain in drivability and seat of the pants dyno results...My question is, Am I feeling the affect of a placebo or am I truly noticing gains...and if so how much of a gain is likely from a bone stock 4.6? I've browsed the search feature possibly not enough but have yet to find the realistic actual gains of a real good tune on 93 octane. Thanks for any help you can offer...seems to be plenty of wisdom here...
Much appreciated good sir! As soon as I have dyno results to post I will in order to help others like myself in the future.

I did a very cursory search fer yall ( usin' the handy-dandy Search function) - there are many, many more like the ones below. I hope this helps.
The takeaway here is - gains depend upon many factors - a major one being yer exact strategy code, and whether/ how yer tunin' feller takes advantage of it. Overall vehicle condition and maintenance being another. Fresh plugs, fresh front O2's, fresh fuel filter, clean MAF & TB, healthy cats, other mods, any pre-existing conditions, etc ...

Just curious, why are you planning on spending a good bit of money running the truck on a dyno when that's the only modification? Not criticizing, I just wouldn't spend the money unless I had multiple, more extensive mods done to justify the cost.
Well luckily I have a friend who owns a shop with a dyno so cost wont play much of a role. Its more for just a comparison of stock tune vs 87 octane performance tune vs 93 octane performance tune. And to identify any problem areas that may be lacking. Unfortunately he doesn't have a copy of SCT Advantage software to tune the truck directly but I can forward any results to Mike at MPT to make any needed adjustments. Plus...it would probably help another noob somewhere down the line once I have dyno sheets...

Long ago I bought a gryphon tuner and it came with 3 tunes. I tried each one and settled in with the tow tune for awhile and one day I had my brother inlaw who is a transmission guy in the truck with me while I was accelerating hard getting on the freeway. He said the transmission was shifting to hard and if I kept it up my transmissions life expectancy would be shortened. I changed it back to stock since. My tranny has almost 150k on it. My preference would be to get every thing I can out of it so I am ok with how it runs stock.
I like the firm hard shifts that don't wear the clutches as much. I ran the Gryphon performance tune for 135,000 with no problems on my 2005. Just another opinion or like.
