wondering should I trade my truck for a new mustang????

I have a 99 F150 XLT with pretty much everything on it for that year except for leather and its not a lariat its has the electronic transfer case, but it does need some body work as there are many scratches and dings around the truck and some sun fading on the roof and medium size dent like the previous owner hit a mailbox. But anyways the truck has 157000 miles on it, its also mechanically sound. has alot of add-ons also like HIDs, projectors, billit grille, toolbox, nerf bars, 33" mud grapplers, cold air intake.

The mustang is a 1999 gt anniversary edition has everything on it except leather and has mach 460 system. It's pretty clean just needs a new shifter boot and these two interior trim parts that hold the window controls. No body work really needed already has my favorite saleen 18" rims and is lowered 1.5'' and a true cold air intake.
has 150,000 miles on it
IDK any thoughts??????

Would you prefer to drive a truck or a car? That's what should drive your decision.

Yeah, whatever suits your needs and/or floats your boat.

A couple of years ago, I was looking with my stepson for a car for him. We test drove a 2004 Mach I Mustang with the 32 valve V8 with headers and Borla exhaust. That thing excited me like I haven't been excited over a car in many years. We bought a 2006 Miata for him but I was tempted to go back and buy that Mach I for me!!

Back in 2001 I traded my 1986 GT for the F150 I still have today... At the time, I could not afford or be able to keep both (still really can't.... ) and I wanted a truck more.

I had owned the GT since around 1990, so I had my 'fun' with it!

Still love the F150 and wouldn't be without a truck now...

I'd love to have that old GT back, but I'd take a new GT anyday! Just have to figure out how to support both!

Good luck with the decision, but it's all about what you want...

Mitch

Maybe you should just aim for what you want, and sell truck. I mean it's looking really obvious you made your mind up already.

Reading the title I thought we were discussing the new 5.0 GT Mustangs, if that was the case, then I'd say trade up in a heart beat

That's what I thought too, and that would've been my response!

But do what you want. I couldn't imagine not having a truck, but I'll be buying a mustang down the road and keeping my truck, so obviously I like both

At that age, the value has more to do with condition. Book values don't mean as much. Usually trucks hold their value better than cars. But, you are the one looking at them and you will have to judge. Someone once told me that buying a car you don't like is comparable to marrying a woman you don't love! I wouldn't go that far but there are some similarities. I've always tried to buy what I really liked.

I wouldn't make that trade. I love Mustangs but most of them have been driven like they're stolen from day one so a 99 with a 150,000 miles would not be one I would want. After I pay down the girlfriends new Jeep I am either getting a new truck (new to me) or a 2013 or 14 Mustang 5.0. The 2015 Mustangs are the new body style and I am not sure if I care for them but the 2013's and 14's are so sexy.

Those new Mustang GTs are unbelievable. There is an on-line test report comparing one to a $70k V8 BMW. They both had over 400hp. they compared 0-60, quarter, skid pad, slalom, braking, road course. the Mustang was slightly faster in every category but the road course and the BMW only beat it by hundreds of a second. It's a good read if you can find it.
