Post a picture of your truck. It will help get the ideas flowing.

as for what to do, general and preventative maintenance, mirrors, and maybe wheels and tires. a big lift with bigger tires will almost require gears which can get spendy, but if you have the money and are wanting to do it, go for it!

I think these trucks still look good with a 6" an 33's, which wouldn't need gears. 35's wouldn't NEED them, just would be good

Wheels make no real difference, you can go as big as you want on those, all personal preference.

Tire diameter makes the difference, but without knowing the gears you have now it's hard to say. If you look inside the driver side door jamb you'll see the axle code, just google it to figure out the gears or post it up here and then we can go from there.

I wouldn't go past 35's with 3.55's. I have 3.55's and my tires (roughly 34.5ish) are enough. 33's wouldn't be too bad with it.

Since your 4x4 you can crank the factory torsion bars and fit 33's no problem.

How much would just the torsion bars lift it without having to do front end parts

You can get about 2", maybe a little more, but I suggest stopping when the truck is level to keep everything in spec and still be able to get an alignment.
