Work in a collision center have lots of tools and have friends who can get complete 5.4 and tranny good condition. Maybe just a turbo. Debating supercharger or the turbo idea.

In my opinion-

Superchargers sound SEXY. Turbos have more power, but unless you plan to drag race it, I think day-to-day operations would leave the superchargers low-end grunt and whine a better choice.

TURBO!!!! lol and a helmet with bluetooth...that's a must. For goodess sake, don't forget STICKERS. Any decent build has to have gobs and gobs of stickers to make it REALLY fast. Good luck with the build, and don't forget...stickers.
Seriously, tho, swap your 4.2L for a Ram SRT-10, and go from there. For drag capabiity, that's the best truck on the market imo. No offense to Lightning guys, but those trucks are NASTY.

I may have a Lightning but nothing about whats under the hood is stock. I've replaced everything. I started with a 2011 Gt500 aluminum 5.4 block, billet rods, ported Trick flo heads, custom comp cams, 80# injectors, triple fuel pumps, whipple 3.4, monster inlet, nitrous, jlp comp r exhaust (long tubes, full 3" system), bts transmission. all that rung up to about 40k and 2.5 years for the build...heck its still in the shop. its made 659/711 on pump gas and the shop is expecting 900 or so on c16 and nitrous. and then theres the suspension. my only regret.. not really a regret but if I could do it again, i would go 32v and turbo. If I had known I would drop so much money into it, that is. I would definitely be in the 1000 hp range and knockin on the doors of 200mph. As it is, It should be a 9 second truck once its dialed in.
all that being said, my advice is to seriously consider a 5.0 turbo'd setup.

Coobies- Still in. Lol I wish I had money!! Can you say student loans?? Haha

SLW- My real close friend has a lightning and should be hitting 9 seconds also. They are a money pit. And that brings fun to it in its own way... I really want something that I can play with hard! Want a truck to run fast.. And look the way it's looking now. Just going to change a few more things pretty quick.
