Oops! Put diesel in f150

For the last 3 months i have been driving my f350 diesel and my f150 has sat most of the time.. Well yesterday i drove the f150 and decided to fill it up(first time ive filled it up in 2 months)

I pulled in the gas station grabbed the diesel pump and started pumping. When i realized my mistake i had put 1.7 gallons of diesel in. I went ahead and filled the truck up with regular. So basically the truck has 18 gallons of regular and almost two gallons of diesel.

Do i need to drop the tank? The truck is running great and i cant tell any difference in it. Im going to drive the truck all week so i can burn threw this tank of gas.. Will i be alright driving it?

I don't think that much will hurt anything. My son once filled up his 66 Mustang with diesel and I had to drain the tank. It would not run at all.

You will be alright with that low amount per the total volume.
Just keep adding more gas as the tank begins to show like a 1/4 down.
The PCM will change the fuel tables a bit to try accounting for the small change in mixture but will go back to normal as you add gas, otherwise no problem except possible pinging under load for awhile until it all goes away. The reason this 'may' happen is the no-no changes the octane rating of the mix to a lower value vs gas.
Diesel fuel has a rating like gas but called 'cetane' rating.
Good luck.

Thanks everyone... I think im just gonna drive it.. Ive always heard a little bit of diesel cleans the injectors out..I started it up this morning and got a little bit of white smoke for just a sec and then nothing..Ive not noticed any pinging yet (i have about 75 miles on the tank so far) So it would be best to fill up at a wuarter tank for a few fill ups? i was thinking about running it till the low fuel light came on and that way put fresh gas in it next fill up...

When i first got the diesel truck it took me about 3 weeks of reaching for the regualr pump when filling up and now i do this

The driver is more of a problem than the trucks.
Take care.

How did the diesel nozzle fit in the neck? I thought they were larger - the size of the old leaded gas nozzles.

Just to be safe, I'd fill it at 3/4 the next few times, and use premium.

This. Every time I fill up the F-550, I'm amazed at how big the diesel nozzles are.

I agree with the last 2 post. How did that nozzle even fit in the 150?

Better mpg secrets: put 2 gallons of diesel in every fill up.

Ford told me when I bought the truck. They said make sure to pump in 2-3 gallons of diesel per fill up. What y'all don't do that....?

And it was a joke since the OP put diesel in on accident.

sadly no. ive watched several people pump diesel into their cars and cant start it because of the diesel to gasoline ratio... ah idots, keeping mechanics, and hobbyists in business since the automobile has been around.

btw op that was not intended for you, ive almost done the same thing, but realized what i was about to do before i turned the pump on!

The diesel pumps are green around here and gas ones are black on the handle
