I apologize for being direct but I am desperate for a solution to this problem. I have a 60 mile commute to work each day and this is my only vehicle. I will have to do all the work myself due to not being to afford to put it in the shop. I truly welcome all advice and I'm thankful for the advice I received so far. Thanks to all!

When it starts missing try to keep it missing as long as you can to force a code. Then you can at least have something to shoot at. If you can get it to do it like 2 or 3 times in a row it should throw a code for you.

There may be a pending code. You need something better than an Auto Zone code reader to pull it up.

Good luck.

It sounds too familiar to be anything else but C.O.P's, if they're originals, replace all. Shop around, ebay search dg508. Local parts houses too. Put a bunch of dielectric grease in the boots too. From my experience, rusty dust, moisture, odd discoloration and expanded boots are obvious visual detections. Good luck, hopefully you can get a code off it in the meantime.

I'd pull the plugs, check them, swap them around, and check the COPs too.

Thank you all! Looks like I'm gonna change the plugs and c.o.p. and go from there.

Sounds like the EVR/EGR to me. If it's not fixed yet, pull the green line to see if it's sucking @ idle. If so, that's the problem.

If not, tap the EGR valve @ idle. Any change ? Yes ? -That's the problem..

If that doesn't work, - look over at the AC accumulator. How close is the harness to the top of it ? Close ? While @ idle and running bad, move the harness away from the accumulator. Any change ? That's it.

If the harness was rubbing on top of the accumulator, you must inspect for chaffed wires.

The deal with THOSE wires/the harness and the accumulator is when to close or chaffed, you can develop a mag field interference issue; - creates havoc with these ignition systems.

Post back what you found.

Good Luck

It turned out to be a misfire in the #3 cylinder. I changed all 8 coil packs to Accel Super Coils ( Amazon $165) changed all 8 plugs to Motorcraft Platinums gapped .054, changed the fuel filter, cleaned the MAF sensor, changed the pcv valve and thoroughly cleaned the throttle body, egr ports, IAC valve.

Runs like brand new, maybe even a little better. Thanks again for all the great advice!!

Looks like the others were right, - that makes me wrong

:o

Oh well, can't win them all. Glad you got her running right, although; you purchased the worst coils on the market. Yea, they don't have a very good life span.

Knowing that now may help you in the future.

Good luck!

Only possibility is now he will have problems with those coils in about a year or less.
