How much horsepower and torqu do you think I have?

Hi I have a 2000 ford f-150 5.4 v8 triton xlt with 77 series's k&n high flow air intake and throttle body spacer I also have a cts programmer and obx long tube headers with highflow cats and a pacesetter cat back split rear exhaust. I was wondering how much horsepower and torqu you guys think I have because I don't have access to an dyno. And I was really wondering because my buddy thinks his 5.3 vortc chevy will pull me. Any feedback would be great.

And yes he will probably be able to pull you, your adding very minor horsepower gains and while they add power at top end they don't really do anything for your off the line power and your really doing nothing to add torque which is what you'll really need to drag him. But it also depends on whose tires are gonna hook up better, what surface your on, etc. So the only real way to know is to go try it!

But how can he drag me? I have more torqu and I have better traction and weigh more than him? And I was also wondering what did my truck put out stock? And are there any other parts you suggest I buy to increase torqu

Those are all things you have to factor in. Gear ratio will make a difference too, whoever can put out more power in the lower gears will have an advantage and stock iirc your both about evenly matched.

My book says my gears are 3.33. And I have brand new Cooper discoverer 265 75r16's on 10 ply. I was just wondering if I ran any chance of being embarrassed by the chevy. And is there any other addons you suggest I buy to get more torqu

I'm not sure of add-ons for torque maybe someone else can chime in and help with that, but either way it'll most likely be close its just gonna be whoever can pull the other a foot or so first will most likely win. Also two more things to think about who's engine and trans has been better maintained, less miles, less beat on, etc. And are you pulling in 2x4 or 4x4?

Bolt on some lighter, shorter tires for the run.

I have 64 thousand miles. Never been beat on. I use it mostly to pull my equipment hauler and other cars and trucks. Here's the thing I'm wondering my truck was special orderd 3/4 ton insted of 1/2 ton f-150. And 4x4. And his truck has at least 80-90 thousand miles and he spins the tires a lot so that can't be kind.

You have the 7700 series? That's essentially a f250 with a f150 body, basically heavier duty suspension bigger rear axle, and stuff like that.

But won't I be suffering traction if I put lighter tires on? Keeping in mind I'm using my truck for plowing this year so I need The tires I have on now for that

Yea I would definitely not use your new tires, you'll burn them up and be replacing them a lot sooner than you'd like.

Yeah I have the 7700 series. And my gears on my truck are P N R D 2 1 and I know instead of second gear and first gear his truck goes P R N D 3 2 I don't know if that matters or makes a difference?

Was just suggesting the tire change for the race. I doubt traction is going to be a big issue. You weigh more than he does most likely and shorter tires would give you an effective lower gear ratio than the taller tires.

Although heavier is better for traction lighter is faster...and definitely when considering tires, a shorter tire will give you a better "gear ratio" and your 3.33 gears are hurting you... a lot
