Death of a Ford

Driving down a back road about 2 weeks ago I hit a cow going 60mph. I'm pretty sure the cattle guard saved my truck from complete destruction and my life. My insurance totaled it because it was at least 9,000 in repairs and they cut me a check that was MUCH more than what I could have sold it for..... causing me to pull the trigger on a 2011 F150 XLT with the 5.0 V8 and I love it. Still miss my baby though.

Im already looking around for a Ranch Hand grill guard, because that thing held up amazingly and I will now own one on every truck for the rest of my life

I dont see any blood!!!

$9,000 my ****. I've been through three accidents that look just like those. My whole front end has been replaced three times and the highest I believe was $4500. But hey, you got a new vehicle so congrats!

Seeing as how I drove it home after pulling the bumper off my tire with a tow strap I thought it was fixable. But with the airbags going off it jacked up the price.

And the worst part of the whole thing is that the trooper wouldn't let me take the cow home!

new bumper, grill, headlight, hood and fender and it's all new again.

Yeah, I hit a deer once going 70, took out the grill, bumper, core support, A/C condenser, radiator, clutch fan, 2 pulleys, hood, fender and door (fender pushed back into door) an it was 5400 in damages. Air bags didnt go off though.

Nice truck though.

Should have bought it back.

How do you hit a cow... cow's are slow lol

The deer I hit, I only saw a flash as it darted in front of me.. then BOOOOM and lights out

Talking Free Range Beef :-)

Sorry you didn't get to keep the cow. Oh well, a new truck always looks better than ground beef
Glad you are safe. I hit a deer in Wyoming doing 75-80 in my 03 ranger- didnt do that much damage belive it or not. Just ripped the doe in half. the other half was scattered on 50-75 yards of the interstate

Shame the cow didn't land in the bed. Seriously glad you didn't get hurt. I hit a dear at around 75 in a 98 Ford Contour. Got him just right, he was squating down to leap so he got it in the rear quarter. Lucky because I just took out the headlight, fender and part of the hood, not the windshield. I fixed it myself and came out ahead by about $3000. Nice truck, new and old. Hate to see them crushed.

Dang, you literally used that ranch bar to push a cow.

But seriously, glad you're ok and congrats on the new truck.

Man .... that sucks ... but glad you had insurance and they settled at least as well as you'ld have sold for.

I hit a "bambi" last week in exact same spot, all I need is a new bumper painted to match and left side bumper bracket between bumper and frame and a repaint of the urethane soft upper bumper cover. $1002.16

One lane road with ditch on both sides, terrible headlights, and a black cow. By the time my lights picked him up it was too late. I might have gotten lucky if it were a deer and it would have tried to run out of the way, these lovely cows just stand there and watch you coming.

I "pushed" him about 10 yards

That's why when I travel out west, I avoid driving after dark - those black cows are hard enough to see in the road in broad daylight! Gotta love open range........NOT!
