i got mine fixed yesterday

 

I got my letter yesterday for my green 1997 f150. but that truck hasnt been running for 3yrs.
My question is could i take my white 1997 f150 that I drive daily? even though I havent gotten a letter for that truck yet, or I dont know If Ill even get a letter for my white truck.

 

You don't have to have the letter to take it in - just check the VIN and if it's affected, call for an appointment.

My strap finally popped today, skid plate and the good strap still hold it thank God!

 

I checked my vin and it only has one recall for the (speed control system modification). cruise control right?

 

If you are showing the cruise recall, you better go get that done!

The tank strap recall only applies to trucks that have ever been registered in northern states (road salt).

 

Huh, I got 3 letters so far. I already made a new set a few years ago.

 

My truck goes in to get this fixed next wednesday. Was in at the dealer for other work and they set it all up, ordered the parts and booked me an appointment, no questions asked.

 

Got my letter in the mail yesterday. Funny tho my straps look pretty good, especially considering I live in michigan.

 

i just got the letter they said also the gas tank as well?? mine has a dent and a hole in the bottom of it think they will replace it?

 

Went in today as I made an appointment yesterday. Told them the strap actually snapped, ok we'll get you in tomorrow morning. You'd think the parts would be there? Nope! Basically went in for 2 hrs for them to point out the obvious problem, a strap busted, this after taking the skid plate off too. They wanted to keep the truck over the weekend till the straps came in. I started to get mad and said, put it together and call me when you HAVE the parts. Idiots! This is why I've learned to work on these f'n things myself!

 

I doubt the straps caused the dent and hole - so I doubt they will give you a gas tank.

 

Woo!!! i just got of the phone with my ford dealer and i was talked to like i knew nothing.called today oct.3 for a appointment on oct.24 was told they could look at it then to see what i needed to replace the straps!!then they would order the part and then i could come back.two trips at about 100 mile round trip yes that's the closest ford dealer to me.the sale department is great the service department i've had trouble with them before.talk about the run around.so i called ford they was helpful,i think.i'm going to put my truck up on my rack and look at the straps for my self.if they look good the ---- with ford i'll do it and have the pay me.

 

Yep, sounds like a bad dealership. Service managers can and have ruined customer relationships in the past. I've been to a few like that. I end up talking with the tech to find out what's going on. They're usually straight up and make sense.

They should have scheduled you in for a replacement set period. That would cheese me off. It's a safety recall.

 

That's not going to happen.
