It depends on what transmission you have in your truck currently as well.

There is a guy on the V6F150 site currently building a 408 Stroker to go into his '97 F150.

As long as the motor is a 351W and NOT a 351M, as they used different trannys and bolt patterns.

A lot....read this link>>>https://www.f150online.com/forums/v8...5-4-351-a.html

You're going to have a major headache by the time you get done with wiring and finding parts.....IMO stick with the mod motors....

Depending on how much your willing to spend, and if you want to be different...

Check into www.supersixmotorsports.com

You can go built and then turbo on your 4.2. Not as commonly done, and still fun to drive.

Better research this well.
Here are some major items you have to deal with.
1. What engine control will you use?
a. EEC FI, PCM FI, carburation. A major consideration.
2. What trans will you use to bolt to a 351w motor?
3. New exhaust.
4. Cooling system?
5. All the little things you run into doing the swap.
Good luck.

not worth it to swap in a 351 especially if you were goin to keep it stock, my 5.4 stock would walk all over a stock 351, just do a 4.6 or 5.4 swap and if you are all into the v6 scene like derek then turbo it, i think a lightning swap, as common as it is, is still cool to do

To keep your 5 speed tranny, you will have to use either a 302 or 351, and the 351 will be hard on the tranny. A 302 is not worth it, your V-6 has just as much power.
