i call BS on that statement. i had to install a resistor, the small one (i forgot the numbers) to get my cruise control back when i put my recon third brake on and even my cheap ebay one. also without the resistor my recon would stay just barely lit when all other lights where on.

For what it's worth, here's the relationship. The cruise control computer won't let you engage if it senses a problem with your brake lights (apparently for safety reasons). An LED doesn't present a low-enough resistance (compared to an incandescent bulb) for the computer to be able to tell that it's not your brake light bulb just being burned out. Adding a so-called "load resistor" in parallel with the LED, fools the computer into thinking you have an incandescent brake light bulb in working order.

I dont have a resistor on it, i just took down the headliner, unplugged and unscrewed the old one and plugged in and screwed the new one. i put everything back together and it worked with no problems. Your CC wont work under 35 mph but thats just common sense stated in the owners manual.

Ditto. I don't have a resistor on my Recon LED 3rd either. Just plug n play (and has always work fine... as well as my cruise). I do have resistors for my front LED turn bulbs, to eliminate the "fast flash"

didn't know that.... but would explain the slightly higher price, aside from better quality I suspect
