v6 4.2 exhaust help

I got a 2000 with 4. single cab long bed if that changes anything. and I thought about running straight piped i already got the cats gutted but i hate how quiet it is with the muffler i got on it now. I thought of cutting the muffler off and run a Y from the cat back and do a straight exit out the back with 4 inch all the way back from the Y. I dont want to loose more power and im afraid running 4 inch from cat back with the Y will not give enough back pressure.if anyone done anything like this what do yall think and what would yall change?

I don't think you'll notice anything power wise. Though I've never run that setup on a 4.2l.

But when I have changed the exhaust and put it back to stock, I noticed no differences, except noise.

That would be grossly loud. Put a SI/DO glasspack and dual tailpipes on it. That's what I'm running, with 2.25" tailpipes dumping out the sides behind the rear wheel. My local muffler shop did the job, custom bending the pipes.

going to a 4” pipe you will lose exhaust velocity for sure, and if it’s for volume / noise, replace the muffler with pipe and then just add some diesel pickup coffee can tip(s)

I'm still on the road. By the way, my front cats are removed, rear cats in place.Muffler is a "Gator" glasspack. They are a small company in Springfield MO with no online presence.

Okay, here's 2 video clips. The truck is parked in a carport that has 3 foot high concrete walls on both sides and a garage door in front of the truck, and is under my back deck. First clip is outside in back of the truck, second clip is inside with the driver's window open.

It does not drone in the cab when driving, no problem listening to the radio.
