my dad had a chevy that always leaked freon, so he had those little cans in the backseat all the time, never had trouble of one blowing up or anything in the houston summer heat, for all 12-13 years he had it (problem only happened in the last 5 years of him owning it)

i can see how it appears to be that, but, with the wires coming off the top and the plastic mounts, here is your answer.

 

they yellow tip looked like the connection port

 

I was gonna say... It definitely looked like a capacitor to me... I couldn't see why derek would have a can of refrigerant bolted to the floor under the front seat.

 

 

It will be getting ripped out. I already knocked the ground wire out when pulling the seat.
