That's where I'm torn at...I want it to be noticeable, but not stick out too much and seem out of place on the lid...:o

My g/f doesn't like riding in the middle. She did once, but says it's too uncomfortable. Plus I hardly ever fold the console up anymore...unless the dog is riding with us, he will sleep there. (doesn't happen often)

WAIT!!!!!!!!
I have one more bit of info for you, as I have done a swap similar to this. I had a 00 F150 harley davidson edition, and it only had the short console and I preferred the Expy console. I put the style seats in it that have the seat belts built into the headrest area (I hated the seatbelt hanging from the roof) and installed the wide top exyp console. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! There will be a noticeable gap between the console and the floor. This is because of the rear heating ducts the Expy and supercrews have. I know how also the rear occupants of a supercab never get any heat or a/c back there. Call the guy you bought the console through and have him grab the rear a/c ducts (they fit under the seats) as well as the duct to connect them (right under the dash), it is not hard to get. The only thing I had to do was re-locate the air bag module. I will post picts

I put a pict of the carpet to show you (I did not have the vents cut out yet), but carpet on the trans tunnel will sit too low, and if you look at my console picture, the front part where the curve is, you will be able to see under the console. You could do the rear vent OR put padding under the carpet to raise it up. I personally liked having rear vents, the cabin heats and cools much faster. You will also need to replace your 'black' cover on the floor to the expy style or you'll have a gap between the dash and console

Thanks for the head up, Mikey. Unfortunately, this console doesn't have the option of the rear vents, only the rear radio controls. I think in '99, the back passenger air vents were ceiling located.

But I will definitely keep in mind about the gap under the front of the console. I hope this isn't too big of an issue for me.

The second picture shows the cover you need from the exyp, notice the tabs on the side, those tabs are what close the gap between the console and dash. Also in the second pict, the air bag module had to be moved, and I had to run a small ground for the module. What you can't see is the small plastic duct behind everything. If you look at your truck, the floor duct has 3 openings. You need to remove that (you can do it without ripping dash apart) and replace it with the expy's 2 +1 big opening (this is why the air bag module had to be moved) and thats it.

In the 3rd pict with the carpet, look at the holes for the seat bolts, see in between them there is a hump, and behind that hump there is a small hole in drivers side for the power seat wires, the vent would come out there on each side

I'm not too worried about having rear air in my truck. The only things that ride back there any more are inanimate objects. haha

And even in the event I have someone or something sitting back there, it's usually summertime with the windows down or a/c on full blast.

But I will definitely remember this for future reference. I appreciate the insight man.

I do not under any circumstances recommend the relocation of the air bag module onto the flexible plastic vent duct. That is just asking for something wrong to happen with the airbag system.

All you need to do to fix the gap is stack up layers of the carpet you cut out for bracket install, under your regular carpet where the gap is. I did this even on a "screw" with the rear vent, just because i wanted the console to fit nice and snug to the floor.

I had this set up for over 2 years, there has never been any problems with my air bag system. Where I mounted mine was more secure than the factory location anyway. There is not one problem with moving that module.

When it comes to a bag that inflates in a quarter of a second in your FACE, I'd rather not mess with it.

A stock truck is a reliable truck.
