You NEED. A shroud for the stock type mechanical fan, yes but why do you say you need a shroud for an e-fan?? Where/why do you get that from? E-fans by design are in their own shroud. Plus, they mount flush up agains the radiator.

A shroud on a belt driven fan prevents the fan from drawing air in from the open area between the fan and radiator. Makes it such that the only place it can draw air from is through the radiator.

An e-fan (already in it's own shroud by design) mounts flush/flat against the radiator surface accomplishing this, so, you do not need any type of extra shroud for an e-fan to work at top efficiency. There's no air gap between the fan and the radiator do draw air from...unless of course the fan was installed wrong, i.e. not flat against the surface.

Where did you get yours from? You only have 1 controller? Also, was it easy?

fans from ebay. look up 16" efans, and find ones with lifetime warranties. They should be >$50. the controller (yes just one) is a Hayden Imperial, from AdvancedAuto. I built my brackets from two long strips of aluminum and a bunch of nuts and bolts from Lowes.

If you use one controller, is the second fan's turn on temp adjustable or does it turn on at one specific temp and when the a/c is switched on?

With two separate controllers, one can fail but one is still functioning.

My one controller has a single dial. When it hits this temp, both fans spin at full speed. When it cools down (usually 15-20 sec at a red light) they shut down. when my compressor is turning the temp probe is bypassed and the fans run at high speed regardless. Like I said, I've been running this setup almost three years now. I'm actually thinking about replacing it just for peace of mind because I'm surprised a $40 controller has lasted this long
