Turn the headlight switch to the on position and pull out like turning on the fogs. This should allow you to see a small hole that you can insert a paper clip or very small screwdriver and allow you to remove the ****. Turn the **** 180 degrees in put it back on. This will allow you to continue to turn the **** which will cause what looks like a door latch to pull inwards and you can remove the switch assembly.

i cant remove the ****, it does have that little notch under it but i can pry it pretty hard and it wont come off. there are a "newer" version of these headlight switches that require a different strategy. i need those instructions.

thanks

I have the same issue as you, there is a little notch I promise you, but you have to pull on it pretty hard to see it. I managed to get the **** to pop off and spun it 180. Problem is that when you pull on it just the **** comes off, not the entire assembly. And now my know will fall off when I barely touch it. Might want to try prying the entire thing off with a screwdriver if you are not afraid of a scratch or two.

the 99+ switch just pops out by prying with a screw driver at the top and bottom of the switch body itself. try that. you may think your gonna break it though but should pop out

My '03 work truck has a little slot on the bottom of the switch assembly where it looks like you could use a screwdriver to pry the switch out.

I had a write up on another site, but for some reason, can't find it....here are 2 pics for you from when I removed my switch....the first shows the side and top clip...the last shows where the bottom clip is located.

It is pretty easy to remove, just make sure you use a small flat head. Btw, I wrapped it in a couple layers of tape(blue painters tape) so I wouldn't mark up the switch

Hope this helps
