try to disconnect the cable running to the negative battery terminal. Then, pull your headlight stalk or turn-signal stalk straight off the side of the steering column. Next, unplug the electrical wiring running to the switch. That's how I remove my headlight switch.

Raptor05121 made a video for this on his thread for changing the color of the instrument cluster at https://www.f150online.com/forums/3680366-post2.html but it seems to be missing now, anyway, All I did was take a micro screwdriver (Like the eyeglass repair kind) and with the headlight **** in the on position pull out theknob and put the screw driver into the bottom of the I part of the **** and use it as leverage to push the **** towards you (away from the dash), Then replace the **** after rotating it 180o and turn it to the off position (indicator mark should now be facing the floor) then back to the on position. you may need to wiggle the switch a little I found that some excess plastic on the dash was getting caught on the little levers on the switch, once I shaved the scraps clean the thing is a sinch to take out.

I had a alarm put into my truck by a professional car security place and the used the sccrewdriver method and after that when ever you pulled on the **** for fogs the whole face plate would come off, They broke the plastic tabs on the back of the switch housing that held it together.

Hey just wanted to say on and my truck (03 fx4 screw) to remove the headlight switch, the trick with turn the **** on an off doesnt work. In order to get mine off without breaking I inserted a screwdriver to the slot in bottom then pushed up on the tab inside it while also pulling the **** in the fog light position towards me. It came off easy after i figured it out.
