shouldnt have to completely remove the radiator, just pull the upper mounts, and pull it out of the bottom mounts and bend the hoses and slide it back enough to get the condenser out.

but yes you will need to discharge using a proper vacuum recovery machine for the AC system

Hm... The guy said I was about 1/2 lb low of r-134a and topped it off for me. He said it would continue to leak out. But I drove around all day today and A/C is still blowing ice cold. I looked around and what he pointed to was a bunch of bent fins, but no physical leaking, so I think i may be able to sweat this out

hey pat, I've got two 5/16" threads for that second core for what I believe is a trans cooler for the automatic trucks? what could I route through there to put it to good use?

Well, I'm going to bring this thread back to the top. It seems to be the best detailed for somebody looking to build their own kit.

Reading through here, it seems fairly straight forward; two fans (5,000 cfm atleast), brackets, and a controller.

I think that I will attempt this sometime in the near future, but I'm not crazy about having a switch in the cab. Why exactly is an over ride switch needed with a temp controller?

You don't. Both of my fans are controlled via the controller in the engine bay. In the 4 years I've had this setup, I've never had a fan fail to kick on nor need an "override switch". Pat just likes to have his backups since most of his mods fail from time to time

Buy two 16" fans. I got mine from eBay, make sure they have lifetime warranties!

I have the Hayden-Imperial 30A controller from Advanced Auto.

And 2 strips of aluminum brackets and a bunch of nuts and bolts from autozone.

Awesome, it sounds simple enough!

Is there a good schematic that I could look at when I do my wiring?

Mr.Scooter;

If you want to do this (not dissin' Alex or Pat here), you may want to be aware of some other alternatives.

www.dccontrol.com

www.spalusa.com

This is not something where cost is supposed to be the primary consideration. Wiring practices are of utmost importance. And all fans are not created equal. The same goes for controllers - proportional control (where turn-on is 'soft' and fan speed tracks coolant temperature) is very beneficial over a simple on/off device.

There are reference schematics within those links as well.

I am also an advocate of manual overrides and in-cab indicators. The Controllers listed above embrace both.

Some more good info in this thread: https://www.f150online.com/forums/to...ng-e-fans.html

Good luck.

where are you guys finding the dual core radiators? and whats the pn#. i think my internal trans cooler is leaking into the radiator as the coolant is a funny color in the over flow bottle so ill upgrade to a dual core radiator and external trans cooler. any suggestions on trans cooler as well?

I totally agree. My truck is a 13 year old base model, so I'm not dumping boatloads of cash into it. If I had a new one, you would be damned sure I had a DC controller plated in gold

I got my dual-core at O'Reilly's for $230
