Check your spare ...

I was looking under my truck for a place to install some aux reverse lights when I noticed my spare had a little problem. It certainly didn't look like this when I hung it up there about a year ago ...

There's a blister in the area where the crack is. I don't know the history of this tire (came as the spare when I bought the truck used), but I'm guessing that first, it's not a very new tire, and second, someone hit something hard there sometime in the past. I'm just glad I didn't notice the problem at 2am in downtown LA in the middle of a rainstorm

I need to get a real spare. I often go to some pretty remote areas, and while I've never got a flat offroading, it's stupid to take the chance ...

And remember to top off the air pressure in your spare.

Make sure you can get it up and down with the winch. The wrong time to find a frozen winch is when you need the spare........

Im missing the bar to lower mine.... just been lazy and havent went to a salvage yard to get one. But my tire is new, when I bought the truck, it didnt have a spare so they gave me a brand new tear drop rim with a new Goodyear.
