Your 97 Lariat most likely came equipped with keyless entry. You can probably order new key fabs online from Ford. Here is a link I found on how to re-program them. I have never personally tried this, but it's worth a shot.

Well, I'd be 99.9% sure that a 1997 Lariat F150 did come with keyless entry remotes as an option. But I understand you not wanting to purchase an item just because someone online says it's fine to do so. I'm not sure where the module is located for physical proof. Perhaps someone will come along and point you in the right direction.

My only other recommendation is to call a dealer or run a carfax (or similar report) against your trucks VIN# to see what all options, specifically, it came with from the factory. Good luck.

do you know anyone else with a ford who has keyless entry? you can always try programming their remote to your truck. they can just program back to theirs if the method is available on their particular car and year.

According to the Ford brochue for 1998 F Series, Remote Keyless Entry/ Ati-THEFT/ Illuminated entry was and option on the XLT and Lariat only. Power locks and windows are standard. So I would think if you have the little red Led or security flashing in the instrument panel, you have keyless entry.
