The n00b!

Hey guys newly registered here, but been looking through the forums for like a month now. I just got a 1997 f-150 single cab 4x4 4.6v8 with power windows and locks with the florida state 2tone(even tho im a gator fan)Truck is currently stock height with 235-85-17 cooper st, but yea ive looked through all your how-to's and theres so much stuff i wanna do....currently on my list to do things i got..
*heater Core
*repaint chipped dash panels(when i already have everything apart for heater core)
*fix the damn DPFE code i keep getting saying low voltage(even after several replacement dpfe's from autozone)
*swap out carpet for rubber flooring
*the LED's behind the dash and all the lights
*i have axle wrap(that i dont know how to fix)
*and ofcoarse re-do all fluids sparkplugs and all that good stuff.

One main thing that bothers me is that whenever i open my door, only my door lights turn on not the overhead dome light, any clue for that?but yea previous owners werent to nice on this truck, they cut the abs sensor, put the cd player together with duct tape and they aparently used the truck to clear trails through the woods by the look of the paint.....also i found some of the bolts missing that holds the seat on....but i mean truck runs good except for the dpfe sometimes... but with this sites help and my new job hopefully ill be making this truck look awesome!so yea guys this site is awesome and so are alot of you guys as ive been reading...hope to post pics of soon...but havent figured that one out yet?

Hmm, I'm pretty sure those lights you flip on by the switches up top are separate bulbs all together. The dome light should be a separate bulb on its own. I'd pop the cover off and have a look.

Yea, there's a problem - that light should work with the door lights. I'm pretty sure it's just one bulb, can't recall, ChrisT may be right. If not, corrosion most likley. Probably have to chase that one down.

oh yea raptor, i saw ur build up too!....and i def saw ur write up on the cluster and tryed to do it when i first got the truck cause it looked to awesome but could not find LEDs locally. But now i have set up an ebay account i can buy the bulbs when i get some $flow$....yea i read ur write up and it helped me take my dash apart and noticed my abs light and check engine light wasnt working so upon further inspection i found that the P/O removed both bulbs and so i stuck stock ones in there and ofcoarse the lights stayed on! lol.....ok its hard to explain how "dumb" the P/O was....both door danels were cracked completely in half, my airbag unit in the middle bevel was deep in there not attached, and middle panel was Velcro'd on there cause the broke the clips, the panels around the steering wheel were all cracked and not holding in place, the headliner was stapled on there, glove box would not close.....a quick trip to the junkyard after cash for clunkers fixed damn near all that! new door panels(still missing the lil circle insert) picked up new dash panels, basically the dash looks like it should now and doesnt rattle off while driving...so yea.... moral of the story..some people...should just pay to get there vehicles worked on.... oh yea i also fixed the headliner, went to joanns fabrics and bought real tree matieral (6bucks) and headliner glue(10 bucks) and now have a sweet camo headliner!!
