Any suggestions on rear view camera?

I have a 02 xlt fx4 screw, looking to buy a rear view camera.with jvc kwavx810

Has to be weather proof
good at night
cant be a liscense plate camera that covers the state illegal I guess in NY
somewhat descrete ( dont want a big hole in vehicle small hole ok)

I was thinking of drilling a hole in tailgate and installing camera that would fit.
Or else where.
Anyone done this and if so What camera used.
Also like other suggestions pic ect.
What is a good camera?
What are bad ones to stay away from?

Look at the BOYO camera's. Do a search on Google. They have some that cover the outside of the plate a little and some that cover just the top

I have the VTL300 and I love it. I've had no issues with it when it rains.

I have this one with my Pioneer AVH-4100DVD head unit and it works great. Its not the cheapest one out there but I have always believed you get what you pay for.
Pioneer backup camera

ok, bringing this one back. after the snow storm we had, i really found out this camera is on it's last leg. cant really see anything at night anymore, so im looking for some suggestions on a better camera. i dont want to spend a lot since i dont use the truck everyday, but i want something that isnt going to get all screwed up after it rains once. any suggestions?

i was looking at the Boyo VTL425 since it doesnt cover the license plate (except around the top). anyone have any other feedback? last long? night quality?

I still have not installed a camera yet and i really need one now with my cap on for winter. You cant see s**t out the back. My idea is that I will get the smallest flush mount or thru hole and install it in the plastic trim piece on the tail gate and run wire into tail gate and out thru a small hole drilled in the center of the hinge on both sides right up to driver side tail light then to my in dash dvd. This way the wires will be hidden. The revearse wire is right there. Plus if i want to take it out all i have to do is get a new plastic trim piece which would be easilly obtainable from junk yard and it would cover hole in tail gate.
There are many cameras with good prices on www.sonicelectronix.com and i have bought many things from them with no problems they are on the west coast so shipping takes a little longer but well worth it I believe. I used to use crutchfield until i found half of the things i bought were in sonics for half of price. You can go on there and read reviews that others had on the camera you were looking at (vtl 425). Im so surprised that noone else has not done a custom install and wants to share it. Its not easy to see behind the truck especially with a cap on. Almost backed over a short women and her son in walmart parking lot and scarred the hell out of me. Couldnt even tell they were back there until she yelled. Plus there is barely enough room to back out in one shot a camera would make it easier to see how close you are to the cars in the other row.

Sorry, just checked and there are no reviews on sonics sight on the vtl425. I ve heard some good things about the higher priced boyo's thou and bad things about the cheaper ones. I guess you get what you pay for. If you get it let us know how it stacks up in quality etc.
